How did she feel about Florida, Oklahoma, and Idaho?
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
That isn't what they said on the news. They might have said they were Glock AR15's and I missed the first part.

We have a friend who is a child psychologist and his wife is in a related field. They decided their children would never have contact with toy guns of any description, including water pistols. The older ones were about 8 or 9 and Kevin heard the unmistakable sounds of bang, bang, shoot, shoot from outside. An investigation found the daughter with "Barbie", both arms above her head, one leg folded down at right angles being used as as a pistol
My older sister, who fancied herself the last of the hippies, did the same thing with her 4 boys.
Thereafter, any vaguely L-shaped stick became a firearm. Not actually a meme, but:
I didn't realize the AR15 came in so many variants.
those are all glocks
Im a "gun guy" of sorts, i own many. I did NOT want my son thinking guns are toys. Especially having a toy gun that is virtually a copy of a real gun in the house. We did not let him have toy guns that were real at all. Basically he had crazy looking nerf guns. He STILL got the gun shaped PEWPEW stuff from other kids or shows. He knows how to point and fire a handgun just from society, not me. He is 7 now and we'll probably let him shoot a .22 rifle this year.
tldr, im a gun guy and still did not want my kid thinking guns were toys.

Wood stocks so they can't be assault weapons.

My son went through a period when he was crazy for airsoft. I always told him that he had to keep the orange tag on the end of the barrel prominent and he couldn't take it off our property without my permission, or I'd take his stuff away. His friends weren't always given the same restrictions, and sure enough they took off the tags. (My son was not a part of this next story) One day his pals were playing out on the street, a neighbor freaked out and called the cops. What do the kids do when the cops arrive? Drop the guns and raise their hands? No, they run into their house (parents not home). Before you know it, the house was surrounded by cops and the SWAT team was on its way before another neighbor figured out what was going on and diffused the situation. That was too scary and totally unnecessary.
Edit: My son's grown up now, and I find that old semi-auto airsoft gun to be just the thing to chase off unwanted critters.

Bottom left is a flint lock rifle
Checks out.
*edit. The rifle is still in my safe, but both guitars, the amp, and the pedal are all gone. Funny how things work because I'm way more of a guitar guy than a gun guy.
