The octopus symbol of Hydra has never made sense to me. Their motto is "Cut off one head, two heads grow back." Their symbol is a creature with one head but multiple tentacles. Who berkeleyed that up? Probably the same guy that made the T-Rex the icon on the Jurassic Park sign when a T-Rex wasn't alive in the Jurassic era.

That's a fool's death. Adult brown bears don't climb. A black bear actively pursuing you though...
1. Standing at up to 9 feet or so, adult brown bears wouldn't have to climb far.
2. With my luck, I'd get tween or teenaged brown bear who didn't understand he wasn't supposed to climb after me.
3. An enthusiastic black bear is nothing to sneeze at.
I mean, even Walker, Texas Ranger didn't fool around elbowing, drop-kicking, or karate-chopping his bear. He used a rifle.

If you're treed by a bear, there is a quick way to identify whether it is a black bear or a brown bear in order to respond accordingly.
If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, that's a black bear.
If the bear knocks the tree down and eats you, that a brown bear.
It's a good idea to always wear a bell and carry pepper spray while in bear country...that way if you encounter bear scat that has bells and pepper spray in it you'll know it came from a brown bear.
