SMB plus another source, yeah.
Apparently the only reason that Princess Peach looks human is because the crown turns whichever toadstool that wears it into a human. The internet found that out and went a bit nuts with it. This is one of the more wholesome versions.

Okay, that answers a question I always had - why is the Princess the only native human - and raises even more uncomfortable ones. It's one racist thing to assume that a human is going to take over the monarchy, it is a whole nother level that the leader MUST be a human by design.
