Sorry, they cut us off early because of the excess of awesomeness was endangering the balance of the space time continuum. They rolled out the millennials early to restore order to the universe.
I used to think Ford would make a killing if they would just start building something like 500 1932 Fords per year. 150 roadsters, 150 five window coupes, and 200 two door sedans.... They wouldn't even have to put drive trains in them...we will do that.

I remember USA Network had a commercial aimed specifically at latchkey kids for their afternoon cartoons in the mid '80s.

Street Rodder magazine is/was full of ads for companies that do just that.

I remember that commercial!
One time my folks went out at night and left my younger brother and I at home. It was winter, and there was a fire in the fireplace. I think I was around 12. I decide to stoke up the fire and got a bit carried away with the wood. Next thing I know I cant shut the door, and it gets so hot the glass on the doors shatters. I called the neighbor, who luckily was home, and he came over with a fire extinguisher (which we didn't have) and put it out.
My parents sure were surprised when they got home that night. On the plus side, this was before cell phones so they still had a nice enjoyable dinner.
