A friend worked in a print shop. He showed up one night, popped the trunk and it was full of Marlboro cigarette cartons! And a 12 pack. We sat down and started cutting out UPCs. He got a jacket and some other stuff, I only wanted the cookbook. It's a good one. I have Towns & Trails, there are others. Great pictures! Sorry to hijack, but for $8 .....
Used to walk home from school.
Along the way, plenty of discarded cigarette boxes. I'd pick 'em up, pull the UPC, toss the box in the trash.
Eventually had Dad order me some stuff.

I get some people have dogs that bark non stop, but most of the dogs I know who are scared almost to death of fireworks also don't really bark.
I feel very bad for all of the scared doggos this time of year, barky or not.
On the fireworks vs. dogs thing...
I get up at 6AM to take my dog for a walk. Then I don't let him out again until 9:30AM, because he will bark at things - it is in his breed's nature. If the barking continues for more than 30 seconds, I get up off my ass to get him inside. He's inside for the night by 8:00PM. I take him for a walk at 10PM.
We spend about $100 in tranquilizers for him for the summer - that gets us through a vet appointment, 4th of July, and 2 grooming sessions.
I can be a responsible dog owner. The idiots firing bombs off at 11:30PM last night can get the berkeley out of here, along with the horse they rode in on if that horse didn't run away because it was also terrified.
I won't even get into the fact that this week is worse than any other for my wife. I spend probably 8 hours in bed with her in an absolute state of panic, just trying to calm her down. My veteran neighbor has similar issues. This year he avoided them by going to Europe.
And let's be clear, I'm not talking about the firecrackers and bottle rockets and roman candles. These are full blown professional mortars that people somehow get and fire off in a residential neighborhood.
