Last few new cars I've bought have been in real colors, and I try to do the same with used cars, but it's not as easy. I think it really has hit the point where people would buy more colorful cars if they were actually for sale. I don't like Chevy Sparks, but I love all the colors I see them in, and actually on the road.

I like grey and white cars for daily/trip mobiles. I like them to blend into traffic, or parking lots and not stand out.

As long as the drivers leave their headlights set to automatic, I don't mind other people driving cars that blend in, either.

The third time my gray Honda Civic was at the body shop, the owner said that grays/ silvers were the most common color they repaired.
I believed him, too, as the people that hit me all said the same thing, "I didn't see you."

Could also just be that those colors are more common. It would be nice to see statistics on how often they are in accidents versus sales rates.
