My buddy's wife unknowingly did this once while cleaning up their basement after it flooded. Actually, come to think of it, she kinda shares a lot of qualities with Peggy Hill.

My buddy was a lifeguard at a local swim club. He said that any time they maintained the chlorine system, the old caretaker guy would test for leaks by pouring ammonia over the joints.

The woman who lives down the road from me also did this. Nice lady but kind of odd. She said she was cleaning the bathroom and all of a sudden couldn't breath and had to go out and get fresh air. Her husband, also nice but very squirrely (in fact, his nickname at Niagara Mohawk had been "Earl The Squirrel"), had a similar reaction to Hank when he figured out she had done.
