I had a layover in Newark Airport last Wednesday night. A horrendous to go box of noodles with the driest chicken I've ever tried to eat was $22. A 20 oz bottle of iced tea was $5.50.
Yeah, airport food is no joke, checking my expense reports over the last year, this came out to be $129 with tip for 3 people. Normally I do my best to eat before or after but in this case going cross country just didn't line up with the schedule with layovers. On that one, the cocktail in the back could have been $20 or more for anything beyond well liquor.

Chicago Midway in 2014 a Wendy's spicy chicken and small drink ran me almost $20. When you can set the prices because there's no competition, they're always ridiculous.

Oh, that part is true. But this writer tried to claim in the headline of his article that that the burger and fries cost him $78. Then internet sleuths determined that the burger and fries were $17, and that he had two glasses of extremely high-end scotch at $30 a glass. Oops. Its now turned into everyone, including the restaurant, roasting him.
In Brooks’ honor, the restaurant even created a special, including a burger with fries, and a double shot of whisky, for only $17.78 (with the amount of $78 crossed out).

I absolutely LOVE when people destroy their own credibility.
Meme unrelated (maybe sort of related):
Been a while, but Newark is the only airport that has non-stop cross country flights. Handy when I had to go to Yuma or 29 Palms, but if memory serves the hallways are scary small; or was that Philly with no room? At a certain age, memory is the 2nd thing to go, I don't remember what the 1st one is ....

I'm pretty sure that the largest credit card receipt that I've had to sign was from Moonlite, for my great aunt's funeral dinner. Some of the best memories in my life were in that restaurant. My cousin insists it is at best the 3rd best place in town and the only reason it is as popular as it is is because it has a buffet - probably true, but I still love it. I'm always disappointed in their burgoo, it isn't nearly as good as the various parish burgoo's, but still a favorite.
