Relevant to the other thread, in some states you can self insure. I don't know the specifics, but I do know that in Illinois, aside from being able to demonstrate that you actually can do it financially, you have to own at least 25 cars to be allowed to do that. So... I guess the average GRMer has at least one check mark off the requirement list! Dunno about Batman though. I know there have been at least 10 batmobiles and he has a Lambo...

You sure did from 1900-1995 when tradespeople were constantly being laid off. I saw it myself all the time and if you go back and watch old news broadcasts from say the '70s and '80s. Constant layoffs. When they started telling their kids to go to college so that they wouldn't get laid off they stopped getting laid off and people who went to college got laid off instead. Look at how hard it is to find auto techs as compared to the '70s when everyone was into cars so shops didn't have to pay people anything. Because the parents said "don't go into that, it doesn't pay anything".
It matters what you tell a 16-year-old to do for a living. If you insist on college instead of the trades guess what they're going to do? If ANY industry gets a reputation for layoffs they will not be able to find workers 15 years down the road. That's why a lot of kids won't go to college now -- layoffs started becoming much more common in white-collar industries.

WTF? "Red Flag"? Somebody explain what she's talking about...
She thinks that something about his tweet regarding go-karting is a red flag (indicator of danger) in the context of dating. That's all I got.
That's pretty much it. One of the groups I'm in has a list the women have compiled of "red flags" when dating. It looks like Bejing on a parade day.

When I was dating, I had a list of "red flags" for women, too. Invariably if a potential romantic interest had even one of them, it was bound to end badly. I won't list them here, because I'd probably be cemented into the patio for it. Politics is all fun and games, until it gets personal. When it's your life, you can make any decision you want to to ensure your own personal safety, financial security, and happiness. Ignore the red flags at your own peril
As a result I didn't get married until I was in my mid 30's. But also as a result, I am very happily married and hope that Mrs. VCH and I both live to be a hundred.

I assume everyone has a list like that, it becomes funny when they decide their list is THE list and every time someone brings up a person they've met they break out the checklist.
