This is just a terrible thing to say to GRM. Of course, now we're all looking at CL and FB and saying "ooo look, a '74 Valiant for $2900!" and "hey, I'd forgotten about the AWD MPV".
Gotta say Dave's right about my local marketplace. As long as you're willing to drive something from the last decade, there are a bunch of reasonable options below that threshold. Like a rust free 2004 Accord or a clean Trailblazer. Or, for the GRM folks, an AWD MPV and a P71 and a rolled Tacoma that would totally make a great drivetrain donor for the Land Rover...
But I shall leave you with the Valiant.

I'm going to give the two women in the background a pass, as I assume from the matching outfits they're probably there for a paycheck. I know what it's like to have bills to pay.

Check out the altitude records for helicopters.
Absolutely nuts.
"Hey let's take a device that is dependent on the engine and everything working including the Jesus Nut and let's go as high as possible so if and when it fails we have a very long time to think about where we made mistakes in judgement before we die"
Everything I need to know about helicopters, I learned from reading The Hunt for Red October. The main character has a desk job because he was discharged from the Marine Corps as a second lieutenant after he suffered a back injury on his first mission when the helicopter he was in crashed.
Then he found himself having to go and get taken to the titular submarine, because he was the closest person in the area after the helicopter carrying the people who were SUPPOSED to go to the submarine all died (save one) after THEIR helicopter suffered a transmission failure over the Atlantic and it crashed.
No wonder a common refrain from Jack Ryan's thoughts was that he hated flying. Extra fun was when he realized after a COD he was riding in landed on a carrier (in a heavy storm) that he was riding in a device with wings that were designed to fold up, something he was glad to not realize mid flight.
