I freely admit that if I had the time/room/money I would totally build an Initial D replica. Real world performance, be damned.

“Just because you are in compliance doesn’t mean you’re safe.” Mike and his crew started using the phrase “Safety Third” to remind each other that safety was ultimately their individual responsibility, and was more complex than an absolute first priority.

In reply to Streetwiseguy :

Can the job physically be done? No? Hard stop, no need to go on.

Can the job be done at a profit? No? Then there is no reason to do it.

Can the job be done safely? Safety 3rd because if the first two answers are no, safety is not needed.

What if Safety is the reason for the job?

In reply to bentwrench :

You still start at the top of the list.

Edit to add:

Sometimes the job can't be done safely and you do it anyway. Sometimes the job can't be done for a profit and you do it anyway. Sometimes it just can't be done and you do it anyway.

History is replete with the names of people that did it anyway. Personally I think the human race is better for it.

The top of Mt. Everest is littered with frozen corpses of people who did it anyway.

More people die on the way back down.  So they got the job done at least.
