My wife and I have this discussion on a regular basis. Texting is pretty much useless. I don't notice text messages when they come in no matter what sound the phone makes. You might as well use USPS as text me. I'll probably notice the letter first. She texted me the other day asking what I wanted for dinner. I finally noticed it about 9pm. Long after we had already eaten. We had the discussion again using very small words.
I'm sure it won't help.

Oh I’m with you but being sales / project management means I have to adapt to how the customer communicates. Sooooo much easier to have a quick call or (heaven forbid) 5 minutes in an actual face to face conversation but I do what needs to be done.

I had a customer text me an emergency service call late one Friday night. He was one of those guys that always HAS to talk to the owner, not some peon. I noticed the text Sunday afternoon when I got back to town from a camping trip. When I called him I pointed out that the service number is forwarded to the on call tech on the weekends. He got a little huffy until I mentioned I pay a guy to answer the calls so I don't have to be tied to a phone 24/7/365 and can have a life. He picked one of the weekends I was out of touch.
One of my favorite places to be in this world is anywhere without cell service.
