I got this year's schedule last night. Maybe two nights ago. I was in the process of finally pulling the sick engine from my '81 so I could install a fully refreshed stock engine so I could enjoy it as a sunny day driver and very occasional rallycrosser, in a genteel vintage sort of way.
Problem is. 5 weekends from now is first event, and it's at a site with high elevation change (video link), and for that you need POWER, and that is the only thing my '84 is good at, and while technically it is rallycrossable as it sits, it NEEDS a new rear diff and a trans rebuild and I have almost all of the bits needed to bring it back to its full 270hp glory vs. its current "meh, it runs" temporary engine but they are on shelves and in boxes and not actually IN the car.
Five weekends. Ugh. And I can't start on it until the '81 is finished because my garage is small and the cars not being currently worked on turn into shelves.

This is a weird year for me in that I'm not installing a bigger engine with a supercharger, or swapping to a 6-speed and rehearing the rear diff. I just need to put fresh tires on and its ready to go. Its nice to be ready for a change. Which probably means that 3 weeks before the first event I'll kick a rod through the block or something.

I fully expect to show up to the first event in my Volvo and being like "....what? All my other cars are broke"
..I mean, it DOES have the power to pull up the hill. And the active AWD would be neat in the sidehill corners.
Down, justification-brain. Focus.

That's a different dog on the bottom, and I'm pretty sure he detects summer sausage and cheese.
