I was watching Falcon and the Winter Soldier and a turboprop plane went by making piston engine noises and I had a really good laugh.

That wasn't the reason. They didn't want to tool up merchandising beforehand because it would spoil that there was a baby of Yoda's species. Someone at one of the toy companies would have blabbed, or run an ad or released the products too early. Look at Lego and Funk repeatedly spoiling Marvel films, or MegaBlox spoiling a bunch of stuff from Halo: Infinite as early as last summer (the game doesn't release until Holiday 2021!).
