In the old days, there used to be a magazine called Road & Track, and the last page used to be a photo feature called 'PS', in which a photograph was captioned so as to...

PS as a protomeme is an excellent way to look at it. And Bob was a recurring character.
It's the casualness of it all that makes it funny - of COURSE you wouldn't be that chill after putting a Mondial? 512BB? into the wood. A lot of people have enjoyed this particular PS over the years, so it's fair to say that more people find it funny than view it as a literal accident report. I don't understand why people think Will Ferrell is funny, but I have to accept that some do.
Here is the story from the photographer, which is far funnier than Bob. Oh, no, wait...
The photo was taken on Glenridge Ave in St Catharines, Ontario Canada.
The owner, (the guy in the photo) was Henry Burgoyne and he'd only had it about a week.
He bought the car from Performance Cars which at that time was on Lake St in St Catharines. At that time Henry's father was the owner of the local newspaper, the St Catharines Standard and I happened to be working for one of their other publications.
So like a dutiful (and naive) employee, I took it to to the editor of the paper, thinking they would publish it. They didn't and about a week later returned the negs to me. At that point it was too late to submit it to another larger paper in nearby Toronto.
So I decided to try my luck with Road & Track, and the rest is history. I had friends who worked at Performance Cars, the dealer where he bought it, and when it published in R&T a few months later, it was the biggest laugh in town. Serves them right for stiffing me originally.
And now I know there was a book.

PS was always the best when Bob was involved.

Sometimes all one can do is be stoic when faced with tragedy, especially if it was partially self-inflicted and didn't involve others.

Really? I think it's pretty hot
Hey it occurred to me -- what if the Fiero had survived and this was the 1999 Fiero? REALLY hot, right!?
