Sure, 1970's fashion looks ridiculous when viewed looking back from 50 years into the future. But in another 50 years, they'll be looking back and heaping ridicule on man-buns and Crocs and other goofiness of this era (and rightfully so!)

Of course they will, and it will be deserved. The '60s, '80s, and '90s are just as dated as any other decade. Each one had their low points, without doubt.
But the heap of ridicule and scorn that the '70s deserve is an order of magnitude larger than any of those. The lack of taste was just so pervasive and infected all socioeconomic levels. The '70s are a berking monument to tackiness. There's a reason Liberace and Elton John were popular in the '70s.
Not a meme... or is it?

I don't know what you're going on about.
HOW did you get a picture of my tastefully decorated bathroom?
The 70's were a period of the inevitable maturation of 1960's hippie culture. The clothing, language, attitudes, and hairstyles were as inevitable as tomorrow's sunrise. The die had been cast.

The worst, most neon-colored, shoulder-pads-and-feathered-hair the '80s could ever do will never come close to being that tacky. These guys look positively tasteful in comparison:

This was a music posting on FB the other day. Check out the far left side guy - denim overalls with massive bell bottoms.
Those were sweet unless you had to run then you'd trip over the three yards of denim you're dragging.
I swear, if you guys don't stop, I'm gonna scan and post my 1978 high school graduation class photo...
Then you'll be sorry.
