Miami FL driving

Argh!!  I'll preface this saying I learned how to drive in So Cal and then honed my skills in the mosh pit of Boston.

I've never seen such a bad level of driving as Miami.  Everyone drives at least 5-10 mph below the speed limit.  Some drive 15+ mph below the limit.  When you finally get up to them and expect to see some 4 foot tall 120 year old driver who can barely see over the steering wheel, instead you see a normal looking 30-50 year old.  Hmm, ok?

Then it's chaos on the road with a lot of erratic driving, sudden turns and U turns, suddenly diving for an off ramp, etc.  It's like nobody knows where they're going and isn't bothering to use Waze or Google Maps.

Traffic is epic, everywhere, all the time.  Parking is a nightmare and all the parking is pay parking, scanning a QR code.

Street signs in Coral Gables are white rocks on the ground, with black letters.  That aren't visible even during the day, let alone at night since they're not lit.

It does have a bit of Caribbean island flair.   I left in 1967 and only go back for weddings and funerals...

OBTW it is spreading north up the state.

Seems about the same as NeOhio, minus the broodozers with punisher decals drivlng 30+ over weaving thru traffic and passing in the breakdown lane.

you had very different experiences of Miami drivers than I have had.     

I damn near got run off the highway while drive 85+  by a Bently Continental GT and several other super cars / bikes

Forgot to mention that the motorcycle riders idea of atgatt seems to be nothing at all.  Most riders wore nothing.  Others would have a helmet on, pairing it with shorts and a t shirt.

I get it, it's hot.  Even when it's 95F in Denver I'm still wearing my mesh jacket, helmet etc.

given the erratic driving I saw and the stifling humidity I think I just wouldn't ride.  Although it would make parking somewhat easier.  Traffic still the same since lane splitting isn't allowed....

It's pretty much as you describe it here in central Florida, except of running 15 under the speed limit, they are running 15 over the speed limit. Or 30, if it's the girlfriend's Altima. 

FL driving has always been interesting.  When I lived in Orlando, it finally dawned on me.  You have an insane number of people from all over the world driving rentals so they have local plates.  You can never figure out what they are doing or predict what they will do.  I'm always shocked how I-4 can come to a complete stop when there isn't much elevation on a clear beautiful day. 

All the big cities in TX are worse now too.  You have so many people moving there, overcrowdning and lots of construction.  It makes for a lot of bad driving too.
