I travel for work and am sick of lugging around my lenovo thinkpad. I have seen the surface pro, with the keyboard and a usb port it seems like it could emulate a laptop pretty well.
I hate working on a pure tablet because without a real keyboard and mouse everything is 10x harder. Not to mention I'd really love to run full versions of things like excel.
Is there anything like the surface pro that's not quite as spendy? I'm not doing movie processing here. I'm thinking like in the 4-500 range all in (with keyboard). It would also be a personal PC, so not managed by my employers software administration. A little bit of included software like office 365 wouldn't be unwelcome.
Bonus if it plugs into the same power cord as my cell phone (usb-c - I think?)
Most android tablets with a folio case (it's a keyboard). Look at Samsung
I picked up an 11.6" Lenovo full PC with the yoga hinge.
Small, lite but sill a full PC. Win 10 pro.
The hinge allows it to fold over to be like a tablet but I never use that function.
I have a Samsung tab e 9.6 too but it Sucks for typing anything long or excel.
I paid $269 on Woot
Now $247 on Amazon
EDIT: this $247 is not touchscreen like mine.
Sample of for $372 Touchscreen version
You can probably find a better price.
I immediately upgraded to 8gb and am very happy.
This serves as my main machine for running a small business.

My office gave us the option of surface pro or dell xps 13, except the surface pros weren't quite ready to roll out yet when I joined the firm (last year) so I took the dell expecting to swap it out, but never did. I prefer more of a laptop which this is, but it has a touch screen too. No fold back tablet hinge feature though. Not sure on price, probably more than your target. It's super light weight compared to my old laptop that's comparable to yours.
I've got a Surface Pro 3. It emulates a laptop Very well. After years of lugging a workstation class laptop, I think it is fantastic. The keyboard isn't awesome but it's THIN and LIGHT!
I'd make the switch if you don't mind carrying a few accessories. Beware the small screen.
