Yeah I saw DB13's picture. I looked at my shop, spent 2 hours cleaning yesterday, now it looks even worse.
I did come up with a plan though.
Hey, Accordianfolder, you want me to bring your stuff over?
I mean moving 2 to 3 axles, 4 or 5 shelves of stuff, an engine, aluminum floor pan, etc, will really open up my shop.
Then I got to thinking, what else I could add to his pile and clean out of my shop?

You people would probably lock me up if you saw the current state of the shop of horrors.
I got it really clean and it lasted like a month.
I pay for a 10x10 storage locker, too. Without it, there's no way I'd fit a car in my garage.
I recently acquired one too. It's actually a good thing, as the storage locker is frightfully expensive per square foot, so when I offload things from the garage to the locker, I am asking myself "Is it really worth the money to be keeping this?"
I used to be able to justify it on convenience, not cost, as it stored a bunch of Neon parts that were hard to get on short notice. Now, not so much. I really should sell the tire/scooter trailer stashed in there, and purge a bunch of other things. Since the challenge tends to encourage my hoarding tendencies, I'm planning on attacking it after this year's event is over.

Instead of finishing cutting up the Focus or working on getting more parts off the stupid Benz, I worked on cleaning up the shop by dumping out a giant can of various-size drywall screws and cleaned them off, sorted them by size, and put them in drawers. This ship might be sinking, but by God those deck chairs will be perfectly straight!
I'm only kind of kidding - My actual progress was to empty two large bins of stuff that came from the original closure of dad's shop two moves ago and organize all that. That enabled me to clean out a shelf and a half, move the planer and the jointer off of the rolling table where they had been temp a-permanently stored, and then clean up the area right in front of the stack of shelves by the office. Oh, and I got the office cleaned up and a bunch of lights hung.
But the big space wasters are still the two vehicles that need to be taken apart... Speaking of which.. does anybody need the interior for a 2005 Ford Focus? Or an engine, perhaps?
In reply to Bent-Valve :
Yeah- when I finally am able to get to trying to clean and organize the garage (while will be, at the rate things are going, March of 2021) it will get MUCH worse before it gets better as I tend to stage lots of stuff in the middle of the garage as I move things around and try and organize things better. And it's going to be worse than usual this next time as I need to try and get as much floor space as possible clear because I actually need to FIT 2 cars (or, more specifically, one car split into two: body & frame) into the garage and still be able to work on all of it.
We need a storage unit or a large shed- not for my E36 M3, for ever-accumulating amount of stuff from the Dancer's non-profit's shows. Having that floor space back would be REALLY nice... I didn't push to buy a house with a decent-sized garage to use as a storage unit, I bought it to put and work on cars in...

Front or back?
Just kidding, I have the front AND back! They can be yours for the low low cost of I'll drop them off.
In reply to Ashyukun (Robert) :
You've seen the shed I have it's only 8'x10' but just amazing how much crap I can stash in there.
Rant: I have to move said shed to the other side of the yard, facing the opposite direction and cut down a tree so I have a place to park a trailer that I don't have to store my new (unmoving) race car. I'm feeling like I should take a few days off just to work on projects around the property.
For the most part, things have been rolling along nicely this week for the cabin- the final electrical inspection should be done today, the well is now hooked up and working, and heck- there should now even be phone, TV, and internet there so I don't have to drive down to the bottom of the hill to be able to contact anyone!
But of course, things can never go quite perfectly- we heard this morning from the plumber that despite them saying they would be there this last Monday to finish the plumbing so they could get the final inspection this Thursday that they have NOT been out there at all, and thanks to one of their crew just not showing up for a while it will be NEXT Monday before they get out there and get anything done- which means NEXT Thursday before it can be inspected and we can (legally) stay there.
Which really, really sucks because next Thursday and Friday is Fall Recess for the local schools so the Dancer has the days off and we had been planning on finally being able to stay out there. We still can Thursday night and Friday night if all goes well (and technically if they get the plumbing hooked up early next week we could Wednesday night, just not legally...) but we were REALLY looking forward to things finally being hooked up and usable.
Oh, and I still need to convince the septic guy to come out and check that they didn't damage the system when they dug the trenches for the electrical runs... -_-

Hmm, they might make a nice post challenge upgrade to the S10.

City council meeting last night was an epic E36 M3-show of petty bickering. Nothing could be discussed without someone from the peanut gallery taking a cheap shot at someone on the council. Every single agenda item got a complaint from the same six rotating folks. Of course the main instigators are the two people running for council who chose the meeting as an ideal place to have a debate. Thank goodness for the 3-minute time limit on public comments. I hate small town election season.
In reply to wae :
I could use the climate control knobs if they're still intact. My Focus is missing the center knob.

This week is just a cavalcade of pain-in-the-ass, bad-paying jobs. Northstar water pump in a DTS, rear wheel bearing in a State Trooper Explorer, now an ancient CNY DDSO wheelchair-accessible Express Van that keeps blowing the BCM-5 fuse every couple hundred miles and knocking out the left turn signals.

Oh well! Must be a common issue on these cars :P

Minor rant: I have many of the bits to make this north/south, and if it is a 2.3 i will have a hard time saying no. Slightly easier if it's a 2 liter.

Good/Bad news: It's the 2.0.
Some days I REALLY hate adulting.
The Dancer is having dinner with a friend tonight, so I'm on my own. Yay!
What I really want to do: go down to the German restaurant near where I used to live. More specifically, go down to the Home Depot there and rent a tile saw to use to cut the tile for the cabin's fireplace and then grab dinner at the German restaurant nearby that I've not eaten at in a LONG time since the Dancer doesn't like anything on their menu.
Why I won't be doing it: Time, mostly- I'm going to try and swap drives on the Dancer's computer this evening and have no idea how long it will take, so can't spend 40 minutes driving (20 each way) and an hour and a half or so renting to tool & eating.
Second Choice: Have UberEats bring me Vindaloo, a Samosa, and Naan from one of the Indian restaurants. No concerns about time since it would be delivered to home.
Why I (likely) won't be doing it: Cost... it would be about $35 to do it, which is on the steep side for a meal for one.
What I'll Likely End Up Doing: Getting a $5 box from Taco Bell. I've probably had more of them than I should lately, but it's cheap, filling, and there's one nearby.
Honorable Mention/Possibility: Have the Dancer bring me take-out from the Japanese place she's going to. Likely won't do this both because it's kind of expensive and because I had leftover Thai food for lunch.
Symptom: Browser crashes. One site that commonly triggers it is the Daily Mail.
I figure that if the browser has become self-aware and understandably attempted to off itself in response to this page request, that's both technically a problem and a breakthrough in computer science so I check it out.
Page loads in full unrestricted glory...GAH MY EYES! It's at least as bad as the infamous Ling's Cars in terms of ads and visual chaos. Also I think the headlines may have made me stupider.
Browser didn't even crash or exhibit any signs of self-awareness.
Well, the saying is true, to find out who you can depend on, move. I thought I had built up some Karma by helping others move. Guess I have to hire some help to get it done.
Remember, you can't have a tetanus shot without anus.
It appears I goofed on my parts ordering and my throwout bearing won't be here until wednesday. Kind of annoying.

I'm about ready to just jam a 40A fuse in this van and tell the agency that owns it "If you smell smoke, shut it off. Wherever the electrical fire started, there's your shorted wire."
The allowable reasons for justifiable homicide need to be expanded to inlude jumping the line at the sushibar at the all you can eat buffet and taking two whole plates of sushi.

Bought a new pair of hockey skates. For those who don't play, skates are a very personal and expensive purchase. Most folks I know have been in the same brand for a long, long time. I'd been in Graf's for the past 15-16 years, but they're mostly out of business.
A shop in a town 2 hours away was closing, and my friend stopped in and let me know that they had these skates for 80% off. Brand new, last day that the store was open so they needed to liquidate any and all inventory. This would be about like getting a new set of tires for 80% off - $350 marked down to $70. Haven't worn a CCM boot since I was 8 years old, but the price was cheap enough that I took a flyer on it. They fit!
Unfortunately, the insole is coming apart. No big deal, right? Brand new skate, manufacturing defect, not the skate itself, I'll just call up CCM and have them send me a replacement insole that probably costs them $2 - kinda like if you bought a new car and the floor mat was unraveling at one of the seams on delivery. No dice, they don't have any of them in stock. They offer to send me an orthotic insole for free! But I have to produce my proof of purchase. Damnit. Friend doesn't have the receipt, and he paid cash so no credit card statement. I paid him cash too when I picked them up a month later.
This is possibly the most minor rant I've had, but still annoying that I'll need to buy a pair of insoles for $10-$50. Oh, that was another thing that I'm annoyed by. I had no idea that orthotic insoles were a thing for skates. I wear them in all of my shoes, but it never occured to me to wear them in my skates. I've never had a problem with foot pain, so I don't think I'm going to spend the $50 for some, but talk about information overload here. Give me 2 options and I can make a decision; give me 40 and I'll overanalyze everything.
