Kinda OT, but did you guys do a lot of research to choose TV brand and model? I’m in the market for about a 50” But I haven’t done the first look of research yet.
10+ years ago I went with a Sony 52" 1080p and it is still serving us well, despite its age. I'll look at Sonys again when we upgrade in a year or two.
At work I have big 32" Samsung computer monitors that I like a lot, too, so I will definitely look at Samsungs as well for the new house TV.
Other than that, it's confusing as hell to me, because there are so many overlapping models, each possibly slightly (or not so slightly) different, for any given size / manufacturer. It drives me insane.
My last Viseo lasted 15 years and was replaced with another. As a FYI, Sams has 70" Viseos for $700. The 50" are under $400.
Yup... all hearing in left ear is gone except for ringing that is louder than I've ever experienced before.
My left ear is (well, was) my good ear, too.

Go to an ent yet? It could just be wax. I lost all hearing in one ear and the ent sucked the wax out and my hearing was supersonic for a couple days.
In reply to dculberson :
This just came on today.
No time to visit an ENT, and not really any money for it either. This is not the first time this has happened (not by a long shot), it's just a little unnerving because it has thus far always been my right ear which gets marked AWOL, going back to when I was just past toddler age. Which is a large portion of why I have an annoying level of tinnitus in that ear. I have narrow eustachian tubes, I guess. But losing hearing in my right ear is "normal" to me, I guess. To the point that when my headphones fail, they always fail in the manner of losing the right side speaker, and I think this is the best failure mode possible.
It's extra annoying because I want to watch a movie, and I can't figure out how to force mono audio with VLC or Windows 7. Maybe that belongs in the "first world problems" thread.
I wouldn't want to get my ears irrigated, because that is what caused my oldest aunt to go mostly deaf in a permanent way. Ironically, she doesn't like wearing a hearing aid because she insists that's why my grandfather went deaf. (Had nothing at all to do with being in the Navy in the 40s, or working in loud industrial environments until the 70s, or diabetes, or alcoholism, it had to have been the hearing aid that did it.)

Rant: Knurled stole my thunder.
In reply to Knurled. :
You'll learn to read lips to help fill in blanks. It won't be perfect. Welcome to the grey twilight of not being totally deaf, not being able to hear fully. Been there my whole life. My only advantage is I never had correct hearing to loose.
Yeah..."advantage."
(Sigh.)
Why do some service vehicles have white lights on the rear of the vehicle when it's moving forward? That should not be allowed- as it's very confusing, especially from a distance. The normal driver indication is that 1) someone is going backward or 2) someone is driving toward you- IN YOUR LANE.
There's no reason for trucks to be lit like that- the other colors tell me just fine that there's a special vehicle there.
In reply to Stefan :
BOE & County government usually make the call based on the most difficult area to service in the district. One bus sliding off an icy road with fatalities would be a major disaster.
In reply to alfadriver :
It's usually forgetfulness. They turn on their work lights while doing something and then forget to turn them of when the go back into traffic.
In reply to Wally :
The truck appeared to be one that is just spreading salt (it's snowing today). So it's not as if they have to really light anything.
Seems like those lights should be on some kind of driving switch.

Yesterday, after I put the son to bed, I went down to the garage to wrench on the racing car. And I hit... flow. You know, when everything just falls into place. When the mm are on your side and work is easy. I first finished the CAD-template for the brake cooling duct plate, traced it to steel, cut it out and BOOM it fitted perfectly. Then I refilled/aired the hydraulic ram for the tube bender - double checked my measurements and bent up the main hoop for the new racers cage and BOOM it too fitted perfectly on the first try. OK, time for shower and bed. But first...
it was at this point I realized that I didn't have a single drop of beer in the house...

You could consider this a minor win... I've noticed my life is getting better and better when I don't keep beer in the house. I now try to keep it in the basement and only keep 2 in the fridge at a time. Mostly because I love beer, but have also noticed that any more than 2 drinks and I'm hungover nowadays. THAT is a rant.
The only time I drink these days is at company functions and if they pay for it.
Other than that, I have no reason to keep alcohol in the house, now. I no longer have the ability to drink from 6pm-2a, eat some greasy food, sleep at 3am, and wake up at 7am for the gym. Burned myself out by the time I was 22 with all the damn drinking I was doing and I only recently turned 30.

We have spotlights on our spreaders so we don't back anything over in parking lots. Add on truck equipment is generally pieced together so it would rarely get tied into the trucks harness to turn themselves off going forward. It's normally up to the driver to turn them off.

Just saw another salt spreading truck with white lights on in the rear- so I don't think it's an accident anymore.

This reminds me of something I want to rant about. Why do so many cars seem to have their white "reverse" lights lit when they don't seem to be about to move? I think this may be related to remote start or auto off lights or both. As a frequent pedestrian in suburban America, I have noticed many instances of this over the last couple of years. The white lights used to mean backwards motion was imminent and I need to take action to prevent getting hit. Now, it seems like they are mostly parked. Except when they aren't... Things are definitely getting worse for pedestrians.

It’s a GM thing. I think the reverse lights come on (and stay on for a little bit) when the car is locked or unlocked. Really annoying to deal with when you’re driving (or walking) through a parking lot, and can’t tell if someone is backing out. One of the worst ideas I think they’ve had in years.
In reply to eastsideTim :
And the reverse lights do not come on in Reverse unless the engine is running!

I forgot that pulling masking tape from under Plastidip needs to be done while the top layer is wet. Now I've got about an hour and half of X-acto knife work to do under a magnifying glass.

berkeleying craigslist has gone straight to E36 M3. Now, not only is it a ghost town due to the fees, but they also no longer save my settings for 'include nearby areas', so almost everytime I go out there I have to select everything again. I can fix that by using Search Tempest, but that still doesn't fix the lack of content.
On the other hand I am spending less on cars since craigslist is dead and I'm not on Facebook.

I assume the drivers leave the rear lights on so they can check their mirrors and instantly see if they are throwing salt or not.

But... but... SAFETY! Who knows what evil could be lurking behind your car in the mall parking lot, just wating for you to walk up?
