First, my cat figured out there was a pill in the pill pocket, so she stopped eating them.  Next, she figured out there was a pill in the bacon-flavored pill paste, so she stopped eating that.  Then, she figured out there was a pill in the peanut butter-flavored pill paste, so she stopped eating that.  Now, she's figured out how to lock her jaw so it took 15 minutes to get her to open her mouth long enough to get a pill in her with the pill popper.

I can't use tuna to hide the pill, as she tends to chew it, and we already use it to hide a paste-type medication, and I don't want to risk her stopping eating that.

In reply to eastsideTim :

Stick the pill on the tip of your finger with the paste.

With two fingers, squeeze the cat's jaw just in front of the joint. It will open it's mouth. Holding the mouth open with 2 fingers, stick the pill down it's throat with your finger. The pill must be past the base of the tongue or it will spit it back out.

Then rub the throat until you feel the cat swallow. It shouldn't take more than 10 seconds.

The pill insertion method is different, but that is exactly what I do to get her to open her mouth and to swallow the pill.  She's just gotten more obstinate, and at age 17, I am very nervous about hurting her, or her hurting herself.  As it is, my wife has to hold her, while I try to open her mouth with the hand wearing a mechanics glove(she's bitten before while fighting medication) while holding the pill popper in my other hand.

In reply to eastsideTim :

The fingers at the jaw joint actually hold the jaw open. She can't bite without biting her cheeks and she won't do that.

Old cats can be ornery though. My only other suggestion would be to try a pill inserter. At least then your fingers would be out of danger.

Also, the glove may be frightening her and putting her on the defensive before you have a chance to give her the pill. Try petting her with it without a pill. If she shies away from it it may be compounding the problem.

Edit. Pill popper = inserter?

How is it, one guy can be in a relationship, and can cheat multiple times with multiple women and still find another partner at the drop of a hat,

And I can't even get a chance at a first date. What is wrong with me?

I got up at 6AM yesterday, drove almost 3 hours, rode absolutely nasty single track all day, drove home and barely made it to 10PM before I fell into bed and passed out in seconds... and woke up a few hours later, tossing and turning all night.

And just to make it that much better, just as I was dozing off, about 5AM, I was stung by a wasp. This is the third time I've been stung in bed and I can't figure out where they're coming from.

I see a nap in my future

I just priced out a new 911 Carrera T in Ruby Star Neo, as is my bag. Manual, roof rack prep, aero kit.

$128,520.

Holy hell, who is buying that? Everything feels so unobtainium lately. I feel like the ends have moved in the last five years or so.

The millenials and gen z are pissed about FAR FAR better things, but that middle-life car sliding out of affordability feels like a minor rant at least.

They have to report graduation rates to the doe starting next year in order to keep financial aid available- or that's the plan. Someone high up will want to know about attrition rates.

also, find another college. I'm not sure where you are at but there are some good ones.

I am in the midst of a pretty bad crohns flare up. I've been in the hospital 2x in the last 8 weeks and I hate the hospital. I ended up going to see the GI that oversaw my care in the hospital. She prescribed me Entyvio and sent me to the cancer center to have the infusion. I suggested that perhaps we should do a colonoscopy because I'm 42- it's been 7 years and we'd know what's going on inside. She says yes. Cancer doc who's doing the infusion sees me last Friday and all the pain I'm in and prescribed me Percocet. Great. Kept me in manageable pain this week. I have my colonoscopy tomorrow, down to 2 pain pills and call the GI to see if we can plan for a refill after the procedure because it's likely to stir some things up. The office calls back and says the feels like it's out of her jurisdiction to prescribe pain meds. I'm confused. She's managing my care. Well I ask for a reason- call back this morning that she has cancelled my colonoscopy less than 24 hours before and find a new GI.
Thankfully the infusion meds were in the oncologist's name and I'm going in tomorrow at 2:15 as it was finally approved. The hope is that this will put me in remission after a couple months of treatment.
why don't some doctors want to talk out your care with you? This is my life that is at risk here lady!
also- I have an awesome job in sales that pays me very well because I am good at it and I just can't spend a week in the hospital for pain management during q4. I have deals to close and clients to take care of.  Also, I don't want to waste my life in a hospital or the risk- I have basically no immune system at the moment. My white blood cell count last week was 10.

I've had crohns for nearly 20 years now and exactly 2 pain prescriptions in the last 13 years. I'm not a drug addict- give me some respect.

Woke up yesterday at 6 and ran to the bathroom. Was exhausted and sick all day. Kid woke up with a rash on her face, kept her home for observation. Turns out she was fine... But my wife was having some allergic reaction, or something, that was causing her to itch like crazy. She ended up taking Benadryl, and it knocked her out. So all I wanted to do was sleep, but I had to be up watching the kid. Then when I finally was able to get to bed, late in the evening, the fever started.

Luckily I'm feeling fine now, seems to have been a 24 hour stomach bug, but it was not fun at all.

I'm so glad my rent went up 25% from last year but my income only went up 2.5%.

Rent is due at the first of the month and is 83% of that paycheck. Of course, I get paid every two weeks so I may not get paid right on the first. Couple that with some other bills and it's a real struggle to have sufficient funds at the first of the month. But then I still have to have enough money for food and gas to get to work until I get paid two weeks after that.

Luckily, this was the last rent payment to my greedy landlord as I'll be moving in with the GF by the end of the month. Then I can actually start saving money and paying off my other debts.

I'm tired of the struggle sad

I'm watching this movie and our hero's allies need to climb through a ventilation shaft because the plot says so.  Fine.

They come to this giant fan spinning in the middle of the ducting.  Total diameter looks to be about 4-5 feet.  Metal blades.  Fine.

Using some sort of prybar or something, they stop the blades from turning.  Okay.

Now they're spending precious seconds trying to bend the fan blades in order to lock the fan in to place and prevent it from spinning.  But the fan is belt-driven.  Just cut the damn belt!

So here I am , sitting in my basement, trying to figure out how to add HTML tags to S3 objects on one monitor and screaming "Just cut the berkeleying belt!" over and over at the other.

Maybe I need to be going back in to the office once in a while....

In that movie's defense, I think the average person is mechanically inept enough to not realize how easy that answer is.

Did they need the fan to run after they got through to avoid detection?  cheeky

Seriously, my wife hates how I point stuff like this out, but sometimes it's so stupid it just takes you right out of the story.  I can handle some suspension of disbelief, but if the lead is holding 3 different pistols as they cut back and forth during a single scene, or they dub in Harley sounds for an inline 4, I'm out...

Boiler problems. Thankfully problems with the plumbing that feeds water to the boiler, rather than issues integral to the boiling itself. But still... boiler problems are about as stressful as it gets.

I don't like issues with something that can blow up and kill me.

Very minor rant, more of "I got a chuckle and had to wonder if they're delusional" sort of thing. This is the graphic some "buy your clunker" business is using.

Sell your car the happy way

That's a rust-free Wrangler, with a hard top. Have they ever MET Jeep people? They seem to think that $5000 is the lowest dollar value a Wranger ever depreciates to, even if all that's left is just a VIN on a scrap of rust. Plus, it's drawn to look like it's sitting on the brake rotors.

I'd respect them more if they had an early 2000s Altima with flat tires and three different color body panels on it.

I go online to my favorite Honda dealer to buy some brake pads for my wife's Fit. The pads were reasonably priced but the high shipping and handling charges almost doubled the price.

My second favorite online Honda dealer doesn't even seem to be selling parts on the web anymore after an ownership change.

No time to snoop around the web for another source so here I am overpaying to have them on time to do the job.

Crap. Anyone have a good suggestion for online Honda parts?

I asked a customer to go and reboot the server that runs the call-home software for his storage array.  After a few minutes he emails me asking me to call him.  I do and he tells me that all of a sudden none of his applications are responding and all hell has broken loose.  I ask him what, exactly, he rebooted.  He tells me that he didn't really have a reboot option, just a button that said "shutdown".  Instead of rebooting the ancillary server he just powered down the whole array.  Meept!
