Thanks guys!

Left at 3:20am and 8-10 ER rooms were empty with lights off along with 40+ people waiting in the lobby.  My guess is similar to when restaurants have empty tables and waiting people point it out and the answer is they don't have staff to work the tables.

If you show up at 8-9:00pm chances are you're sitting until 7:00am the next day.

We couldn't afford much for Christmas this year, so instead of presents my wife made the excellent suggestion to take the family on a short out of town trip. We met when I was an Animal Science major and she was running the costume shop at UF, so we decided to go to Gainesville.

I've been looking forward to this for a couple of months, then had to send them without me when I got sick. Not covid, but a whopper of a cold. It's been nine days since onset, and I'm still recovering. I'm not looking forward to answering the inquiries about my vacation repeatedly for the next few weeks.

Someone backed into my wife's car while there, bumper cover is smashed in and has a two inch long perforation. They left a note, the number is not in service, and our deductible is $1000.

Getting pissed because I told you you're going North instead of South to the Interstate, twice, tells me that you have other ideas on what to do. Then getting pissed because I'm not helping you get to where we need to go, now turns this into a berkeleyed mind game in which you get to be upset and surely about all of it. I will help you or I will not help you. I will not allow you to pick and choose so you can focus your frustration on me.

berkeley you, I'm not buying your bullE36 M3 and playing along.

Going over the history of Colin and the whole Mini/WRX debacle, I realize something.

It has been exactly a year and a day since I have had proper pierogi and onions.

And it's a few hours late to do anything about FiXING that.

dammit

Properly? Get a box a bit bigger than the bottle. Fill it 1/3 with expanding foam, put down a thick layer of plastic, and before it sets, set the bottle on it to get a form. Another thick piece of plastic, more foam, cut off level with the box. Seal it, ship it, don't tell anyone what's in it, some states is ok some it isn't.

Quick and dirty? Put the bottle in a few sealed bags just in case, wrap with hoodies and or bubble wrap until nothing moves inside the box.

That sounds very very interesting.

This video editing software I use is constantly updating and popping up the "install new version now" screen.  Fine, click, whatever.  Turns out the last one was a new version that my previous purchase did not cover.  In their defense there was a little red notice in the "new version" pop-up that said that some users may require an additional purchase to use the new version, but here I am finally with the motivation to get a video done and I'm just wanting to get this crap out of my way so I can do the things with the stuff.  I go to export the video and it gives me this crap about needing to "upgrade to the pro version" or whatever in order to remove the watermark and get the full resolution.  That is the moment that I realize that the new version it installed was the major release version and not an update to what I already had.  And the old version, of course, can't read the new version's project files.  And naturally there's no way to have the new version save in the old version's format.  So I have two options:  First I can just completely re-create the video in either the old version or some other software package or I can pay $30 to buy the new version.  I was actually sort of thinking about buying the new version earlier since it looked like it might have a feature or two that I would find useful - specifically, being able to highlight multiple clips and perform actions like changing the speed or volume.  But after that trick, I think maybe I'll just go and find a new video editing platform and the hell with these guys.

I was more thinking of how to do it totally above board but it is very very interesting. I'm not sure where you are but it is available randomly in places other than Milwaukee apparently, just few other places.

I guess I could buy a bag and check it? But it's pretty spendy at that point too

So walking thru the Milwaukee Public Museum, fantastic Old Milwaukee streets exhibit btw, and we are walking thru the exhibit on feudal Japan, so Foo Dogs, Samurai etc and it's very cool.

Lady walks thru, looks from side to side and says " What is this, PF Chang's?!?!" Her friends and family thought this was great.

So we've got this bridge here in town that is about half as big as it needs to be to handle the amount of traffic, right?  Well, they finally allocated the funds to do something about it after about 20 years of mucking about.  On Wednesday, the president and a bunch of other chucklehead politicians are all coming to town so they can publicly pat themselves on the back for finally doing their jobs.  Their stated goal is to talk about how this is going to relieve congestion in the area.  And to do so they're going to create a massive amount of congestion in the area so they can come in for their photo-op.  Can't they just do a green-screen or something?

I'm glad you are able to get a bottle!

Unfortunately Idaho is a state where you can't ship any alcohol to.

I bought a bunch of parts to rebuild the manual shifter in my 2004 Santa Fe crapbox. The parts were inexpensive, about $13. Shipping took awhile; the parts had to be shipped to the dealership, then they shipped it to me via USPS.

First, one of the parts I ordered is NLA. I was unaware as the website showed the part as available and in stock. I was refunded for the part.

Next, the package arrived 4 days late. When USPS finally delivered it, it was delivered in a plastic bag as the box that it was shipped in was completely destroyed. The biggest and most important part was missing. It was a shifter stick assembly. I need to replace that as the pivot ball and bushing are worn and you can only get those two parts by buying the entire shifter assembly.

I filed a claim using the link in the order email. It took 3 days to get a response. Now they are saying that the part is on backorder and they don't know when it will be back in stock. They issued a refund for it without any input from me.

I just want my damn parts!

I just paid $15 in shipping for a beating spacer.  About 1.5"x1.5"x1.5".

their only response was, "it's what the computer says when I type it in."

sigh

State quietly enacted a new law requiring an off-road permit to operate any vehicle on any unpaved surface, regardless of vehicle registration or operator licensure. They also now require actual plates on everything that isn't registered for on-road use, with exceptions for snowmobiles and motorcycles which stay on the old system of registration stickers.

Then, if you follow the links posted boldly on the states website, you will be taken to a non-state-operated site offering a course to help you pass the permit test for a low fee of $35. to be clear, the test is free, and each section will not let you move on to the next section until you select the correct answers... so it appears to be nothing but a dirty money grab.

The short version is most folks will likely either pay $35 for nothing, or miss the news entirely and get fined for operating a registered vehicle on a dirt road while licensed to do so only on paved roads.

Utah does not have unpaved roads?  You can't be "off-road" and simultaneously on a public highway.

Smells to me like a way to make everyone a criminal so the police can fine/arrest whoever they feel like.
