I need a coil for an LT1.

Uh...last count there are 3. 3 completely different generations of engines with the same name. 26 letters in the alphabet, let's reuse the same letters, again, and again. It can't be nostalgia ,  because the second LT1 is the redheaded stepchild of the small block world. Earn that paycheck,  GM.

The first one is an LT-1, not an LT1.

Not that people care.

The second one was AWESOME in the early 90s.  The TPI engine barely made over 200hp and Mustangs actually took a step backward when they went to the Mod motor in 1996.  The main reason the LT1 lost its way was because the LS1 was so much better.

Vortec heads are still prized in the small block world, they are more or less iron LT1 heads with standard coolant routing.

On the plus side- a replacement $30 dollar ripcord starter is literally the most i've spent on a free mower, and only because I have no damn clue how the spring is supposed to go back inside properly.

And now the house has eaten 3 dozen blades for my weedwacker. 3 packs of bright yellow blades that live on a hook beside the man door in my garage. Just berkeleying gone. Nowhere in the house at all, even though the wife watched me put them back a month ago when I last weed wacked.

trick question, they don't. torque to yield or whatever. It's like letting the magic smoke out.

Blades? I've never used any blade that worked better than good line.

My trimmer was a semi-cheapie that came with a fixed head which took precut lengths of line. Every three or four minutes I had to stop, pop the cap off, and thread a new length in. Swapping on an Echo Speed Feed 400 bump-feed head cost about $40 and let me focus on the work rather than how much I hated it. It changed the machine from a minor rant to a minor win.

I've had so much stuff simply vaporized in my house. I spent 2 days looking for $120 worth of Stoptech braided line. Gone.

So much of my life is spent looking for things in my own home.

Ha, it gets better. Cub cadet is misbehaving, so I took the bowl off the carb, and the bolt holding it in/primary jet disappeared from my hand. It unscrewed, it and the bowl came off into my cupped hand, I opened my hand and it was gone.

Gary was standing right next to me and watched it happen. After a thorough search of the tractor, the tractor deck, freshly cleaned concrete driveway, garage, and drain at the garage door edge it's Just gone, like it blinked out of existence.

So I got to push mow the yard. Yay.

Still don't know what's wrong with the cub either.

I switched to these last season after going through 4-5 different string heads and a few different types of line.

We have a lot of thick and heavy stuff around where I need to weed wack and it just rips line out of heads. These blades will take down poplar saplings, trim the hedges, cut the rose bushes are the base, cleanup the Holly bushes, recover driveway space from the encroaching yard, and be happy about it. They've proven very hard to break as well which is nice.

They will bind up in really tall grasses, but I had that problem with string heads too.

I have an actual saw blade attachment for it, but that kinda scares me. I like having feet, and I have a perfectly good pole saw.

Just drove 80 miles to look at a F250 that the dealer "did not know" it had been converted fully to natural gas. Sure berkeleyers. Perfect condition in every other way and I would have cut the check.

The hurricane is all anybody can talk about in San Diego, got the house locked down pretty good in a few hours and now just waiting for the rain. Its all about the flooding but its going to be the wind that really hurts us.

I somehow managed to lose electric hedge trimmers. FFS, they're two feet long, you'd think I would trip over them. Unless someone swiped them from Dad's place, my truck bed or my porch table. My boxwoods are outta control.

I sent my sis the "for sale" for tb's Omni GLH because she's wanted one since she was a kid- told her that she'd have to jump on it and I'd take a road trip with her to get it, no question. Doing that started a 10-minute long chain of excuses- she has no room to store it (Parent's and close family all have acreages/farms we've held things on) she could never have our parent's "Shoulder the burden" (its a berkeleying car, on 3 acres, and we've laughed with them before about putting a camo tarp on one out back they wouldn't see) and how it's "Storing our crap on their property". I finally just stopped responding while she justified it to herself. I don't wanna give up on things of this nature, but I have to accept that my sister may never actually pursue her dreams and might just make up endless excuses. It hurts.

On the one hand, I get where you are coming from.

On the other hand, we're also talking about consumer goods, not a life experience.  In the end it is just a piece of metal, and the moment may have passed.  Now, if she were talking herself out of, say, a trip to a place where she had always dreamed about going, like some faraway city or a ride up to the edge of space or something like that, I'd be right there alongside you.

I'm like her in that respect. She may be afraid of failure, of success, of being disappointed, or of disappointing someone else. She may not think she deserves to be happy, or to spend money on herself, or to let someone else expend effort toward her happiness. She may be deeply discouraged because of sacrifices she's had to make in the past. She may be uncomfortable with people (even family) getting involved in her choices, or with pressure to go through with something that someone else wants her to do.

I dunno, man. I've given up an awful lot of hopes and dreams over the last thirty years and realized that a lot of things that other people have and do are not in the cards for me. Sometimes it's easier to stop wanting then it is to keep being discouraged.

Just try not to make her feel bad about feeling bad, I guess.

Company forced a reboot on my computer overnight and now my browser version is too new for some of our test software.  Been spending all day trying to come up with a fix or a workaround, instead of actually, you know, getting work done.

So far my workaround is write code, make sure it compiles, and send it to another coworker to make sure it actually does what it is supposed to do.  Yay.

New problem - IT sent me a new laptop to replace my admittedly ancient one (that still does what I need it to do, but I've hit the mandatory replacement age), and it's so new it is not compatible with my docking station.  So, they'll need to send me one of those.  They may also need to send me some adapter cables for my monitors.  Or for all I now, they may just send me two new monitors, which would be pretty wasteful.

I wish I knew how to get her past that.  I wish I knew how she got that way in the first place.
