Despite what I thought was ample practice, I cannot seem to play to a metronome.
Torx Plus? Is this the new "security by obscurity" bolt head design? Luckily, the river company is getting a bit set to me tomorrow, but I wonder what the next step will be in making it harder to work on something at home.
I found an electrical bodge that I decided I hate even more than vampire clips.
People too cheap to buy vampire clips who instead cut off a bit of the insulation of the wire they want to tap into, then wrap the tap wire around it and wrap the whole shebang in a load of electrical tape[1].
For extra brownie points, put those taps right next to a connector that is otherwise unused, when all that was necessary to do a proper job was to fit some 6.3mm blade connectors to the "tap" wires and shove them into the berkeleying connector.
This post is brought to you by someone who's now on day two of an hour long headunit install, mainly because the liquid electrical tape I use to repair all this berkeleyery takes so long to dry.
[1] Note the complete absence of words like "solder" or "crimp" in this sentence.

Torx Plus is Torx with more squared nubs. Used in a lot of places like Ford truck beds. Regular Torx bits "work" in the fasteners but are less than ideal.

Working on a Ford. T60 was too big, and the T55 (I think) rattled around. Im not willing to mangle a bit or the bolt heads on my new car, so can wait a day or so.
Sounds like Ford truck bed bolts, or maybe seatbelt mounting bolts.
I have used T55s and lived, but I felt queasy about it and hunted for the correct socket first before going for it. The nice thing about Torx is that the tool is usually far weaker than the fastener. You break the tool, the fastener stays okay.
I'd much rather deal with a broken socket than a rounded seat mounting bolt...
Torx Plus are far less likely to break than Torx, so I can see why Ford did what they did.

I can tell you about Leif Erikson.
In reply to Appleseed :
No. I can't. Part of that is because the only bike I own is a rather specialized unit with no seat, but there's also a noticeable lack of talent.
Every single day is a fight to get the privilege of working a full day. It's always "you need to go in late because of this reason" "I need you to leave early and be sure to haul ass home because of this reason" and "I need you to work from home on the most inconvenient day ever so I can do what I need to do". Can't I have one one freakin' day that I can just go to work like a normal person, work a full day, and drive home in a way that doesn't have my blood pressure through the roof because we might be late?
I guess it's easy to think that the rest of the world "can't handle the truth" when you're convinced that you personally own The Truth.

I've found over the years that if you want someone to understand where you are coming from, being militant about it is rarely the preferred method.
Full disclosure- I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Full Disclosure pt 2- When Jesus said to love everyone, he meant it. Pretty sure "everyone" covers all ages, races, creeds, and genders. It took me a long time to learn this.
I hope you have a better day, Duke. Some people cannot see the forest for the trees.

Thank you. I'm not having a bad day, but I certainly appreciate the sentiment and the spirit with which it is offered.
I am not religious in any way in my personal life. How other folks are in their own personal lives is not my business and does not affect me. It's between themselves and their consciences, and I hope they find a path that gives them comfort and support. Merely being religious does not prevent me from liking or respecting a given person.
I am completely anti-religious - regardless of creed, no matter what a certain person says - when religious folks attempt to enforce their vision on others, via whatever method: legislation, guilt, or harassment. I can ignore the last two - but legislation affects everybody, and not everybody shares the same morality. There is a very basic bar that protects individuals from violence, theft, or fraud. But once that standard is met, anything above that is an attempt to impose your moral vision on others.
But of course, if you own The Truth, that just means everybody else is wrong and needs to be corrected.
Hes already accomplished his mission. Hes getting very efficient at thread locks. Only been back for two days, right?
In reply to Appleseed : I see involvement in the Serious discussion, Kia/Hyundai Chicago, EV v2, C19 Smell, EV v1, EV vs ICE, 1st amendment, US corruption (provoked), and 6 bill for Ukraine threads in the past 3 months so roughly 3 per month.

I'm really not sure why he's been allowed to drag his martyrdom out this long. Just pull the trigger and put him out of our misery.
We won't have to deal with him any more and he can sulk and nurse his self-righteousness. It's a win-win solution.
I don't normally post here, but I have to say:
I generally do my best to try and understand how people think, where they are coming from, what their motivations are, and do my best to be empathetic even if I entirely disagree with their points. (most everyone has a lot more in common than they think, even in pretty split topics)
There are just some people.... I mean... they seem just beyond being able to understand what they are doing with what they say. I really do understand what this person is actually trying to say, what points they are making (and I don't even disagree, at least completely, with some that they appear to be making), and pretty certain almost exactly where they are getting the vast majority of their "talking points". Yet... I am not even sure how to describe it....
Do they really think degrading and pissing people off with change their minds? If not, what exactly is your point in even stating your positions? Willing victim?
I mean, if nothing else, if someone comes to a gathering and, although they may have reasonable points to express.... I am sorry a kids party (or whatever the situation) is just not the place to discuss such things! So you ask them to leave, they leave.... and they come back 10 min later discussing the same topics!!!
I am not entirely sure what it is. The way the comments are phrased? The implied arrogance of the strength of their position? The consistent use of ad hominen and straw man logical argument fallacies?
I try to help them understand how they are perceived. I make it wildly clear, with the help of many others, to show an absolutely, legally verified, undisputable, error in what they have stated multiple times.... they make the same statement a few days later!!
I am forced to think of the concept that some have that you can fix almost anyone of their issues, given the right process. Well, either we do not have the correct processes at this point, or some people are simply not capable of living in modern society... some times, removing someone from "society" really is the only solution.
You cannot "fix" someone, who does not want to be "fixed".
(to be clear here, I am not talking about fixing an opinion, just how it's delivered and argued)

Fairly sure I know what you're referencing, but there I could substitute the subject (object?) of your post with a very close relative and have it fit perfectly. It is becoming a real problem and has been the topic of many long conversations lately and no end or solution in sight. It sucks.
I lost my temper and yelled at my BIL during vacation.
The flat earth stuff was bad, but not enough to make me actually angry. It took the space lasers tearing up Ukraine bit to make me mad.
Unrelated: I got a frenectomy this morning and my tongue feeling like it belongs to someone else.
Also unrelated: While on vacation I was retrieving an errant pool noodle and slipped on an incredibly slippery rock. I lost half of my toenail on my right big toe. Ouch.

Just wanted to take a minute to tell you (completely unrelated to this thread, sorry, I just suspect you will see this), NOT a rant:
Your son is doing great with us in the AC (online racing) league. He is not in the way, and is respectful and very much actively tries not to be in the way. The second son (Tuna3?) is a little less prepared (what, no driving yet, he has to be at least what 10?! ) but he was also not an issue either. We are doing are best to give them both good habits, both in driving, and in language (!)
I am hoping he is not learning any new swear words (we had a bad week last week, so some got out). We normally try not to swear, and I honestly expect he could teach us some, but, it's better not to encourage it with him, or us!

Dude thank you so much for that. The second son is Tunakid 2, and he's 13. I appreciate you guys not getting incredibly annoyed with them, and I really appreciate that they're in good internet hands, so to speak.
thank you thank you
