Oh, hell. The pain from last week is back. Same E36 M3ty feeling. Kidney feels like its been hadouken'd. Constant urge to piss. WTF, man?

At least I have a handle on what the pain is, but Jesus berkeley, I might trade it for ass cancer at this point.

Am I the only person on this job that knows how to read a  calendar?

How about a job schedule? Any of you idiots capable of reading those?

We were scheduled to start this job today. This has been on the schedule for well over a month. It says so right here, EES, start date 9/11/23 at door 2FL-11, and then one door per day for the next month. It's on your schedule that you sent to me. My guys are there with all the 2nd-floor materials to get started. Is there a reason why you and your other subs are not ready? The electrician should have been on the job for at least 2-3 weeks to get in front of my people. Why am I finding out now that he hasn't received approvals for his submittals yet and hasn't even started the job?

You can take that useless fancy multi-colored schedule you sent me, fold it until it's all sharp corners, and shove it up your ass. You can even use my copy, I printed it on Super B paper so it will feel nice when you slide it in.

I'll be pulling off the job for the rest of the week minimum. You're on my schedule now.

Many it will cause paper cuts on the anus and up the colon. That seems appropriate. The part that would bother me the most was them not telling you that the person before you hasn't even got past the approval stage, let alone working. Total miss on the project manager.

Seems to me that you need to work this into your billing contract- so you get paid for their delays.

Apparently, this is all my fault.

I assumed since all the parties involved had been doing hospital construction for 20-plus years they would know what they were doing.

I assumed any GC would know that the powered system needed power installed before they were installed if they wanted the power connections hidden.

I assumed that a GC would know that 3 different contractors can not work in the same 6' x 2' space at the same time.

I assumed since we had countless meetings where this was all discussed repeatedly, that the people involved took notes in the meetings and knew what was going on without rehashing it again on email.

I assume that everyone involved was professional and capable of doing the job they were hired to do.

I was apparently mistaken.

More importantly, they assumed that since we had the largest portion of the project that I was in charge of this show and should have explained it to them in such detail that my 7 yo granddaughter could understand it.

They were very much dismayed when I told them that project management was not included in the estimate I provided for this project. I had two guys scheduled for this and while they are capable, they are not project managers. If they would like, I would be willing to submit a change order and take over the management of the project and send someone down there to run it, but the price would be significantly higher than our current contract.

They are figuring it out and are guaranteed to be ready for us next week. Meanwhile, we have phone numbers for the electrician and will be contacting them before we go down there again.

Edit: Yes, I know what they say about assume.

Oh, lawd.  It was worse. Oh so much worse. SWMBO finally saw how much pain it takes to stop me. About an hour after I posted this, it nearly dropped me. Holy hot hell. That's a solid 9 on my pain scale.

After having to bug out of my old place of employment, my once cramped garage has been upgraded to "drowning in E36 M3" and it is impossible to get any work done and it sucks.

So, I am at least painting "Colin"s tunnel.  Refrigerator epoxy.  Spray a few minutes while holding breath then GTFO.

On the scale of "minor", this is probably really far off on the "almost negligible" end, but it's inexplicably irritating to me when someone has a recommendation, or something they believe really needs to be done, and they phrase it in the form of a question.  For example,

Irritating Way:  "Since the proposed training curriculum allows more detail in course material, would it be appropriate to have the e-training system permit a student to save the training to a point at which they could resume again at a later time?"

Non Stupid-Sounding Way: "My recommendation would be to allow students to save the training at any point, so they could resume at a later time."

Phrasing it as a questions just seems like bullE36 M3 overtly-passive behavior.  If you think it's a good idea tell me it's a good idea, don't berkeleying ask me.

The icemaker on our refrigerator has suddenly decided to stop working. My suspicion is that there is a block of ice under the nozzle where the water to fill the tray comes out, but I'm loathe to disassemble things to pull out the assembly to check and/or clear out the ice because I don't want to break anything worse.

Secondary rant: after trying a few easier things last night and realizing it still wasn't working, I ran up the street to the dollar store to try and grab some ice trays (because we've never needed them in this house). To my surprise, they had none and their entire section of household stuff like ice trays was pretty cleaned out. Thankfully it was earlier than I thought and our grocery store about half a mile further was still open and I was able to get some there.

Tertiary rant: For all intents and purposes, the pandemic is over, and most things have gone pretty much back to normal. How is it then that the grocery store is still closing at 9pm? Ours is one of the only ones in town still closing at 9pm- most are open until 10pm, and the larger, newer ones until 11pm.

The pandemic may be over (for now), but I've heard from multiple places that we're going to experience knock-on effects from all the E36 M3 that went down over the last 3+ years for at least the next 10.

Can't win, currently. We have conflicting generational approaches of "just tell me what you need" vs "ask me for input" (to oversimplify for the sake of brevity).

Not sure if its generational.  One of the reasons my marriage failed was the "Where would you like to go for supper?",  instead of "I'd like to go to place B for supper.  Sound good, or do you have a different plan?"

You asked.  I answered.  Not my fault I can't read minds.

The container labeled Korean BBQ boneless wings had breaded bone-in wings.

I way prefer buying wings that are not 60% breading, fat, and bone

Was it BBQ Chicken? Apparently BBQ there means "Best of the Best Quality."

I prefer my chicken breaded and deep fried, so I liked it. A bit pricey though.

Got a call from the plant manager. One of the maintenance guys was working in a cabinet and dropped a very old computer.

Not surprisingly, it no longer works and I'm at Blackhawk Farms tomorrow.

Will have to wait till Thursday when I can get out there

Speedway's finest.

2 hours later, I got the farts bad enough that I thought my underwear might melt.  ("Hey Pete I have a question about..." "STAND OVER THERE!")  Shortly thereafter I got to stress-test the ventilation capabilities of the shop bathroom.

Fried chicken doesn't like my insides and seeks a rapid exit from the premises.  Next time I will check the container instead of the label.

Apparently something was wonky with Outlook on my work computer, and all the emails I thought I'd sent out starting sometime last Thursday until when I restarted it this morning were not sent and were sitting in my outbox- and were then all sent out together when I noticed something was wrong and restarted Outlook. Stupid Outlook.

Flip side of that coin: people who follow so closely that they are unable to react to my sudden braking (e.g. to avoid a bicyclist or dog or other road hazard).

I can drive my own car. What I can't do is drive mine and theirs at the same time.

Corollary to the braking coin: People who cover the brake pedal (and can't avoid touching it) at all times, resulting in a morse code-esque series of flashes. Nearly always perpetrated by someone whose vehicle is equipped with LED tail lights.

Can we change this one to "people who aren't able to cover a pedal without touching it?" Covering isn't the problem on this one.

Bonus points if said vehicle also has all-red rear lights with combination brake and signal lamp, and activating the turn signal disables brake lights on that side. If they feather-foot the brake while signaling a turn, the back of the car becomes a random, disco-ball-style light show that is utterly indecipherable.
