I had a client who always paid in cash. I think the reason was that he expected his vendors to pocket some of the money and/or not report it all. Problem was that his business was in a very bad neighborhood, and carrying $25K in loose bills past the druggies and prosititutes was never something that I relished doing.

That's how a friend of mine bought my Excursion from me. Apparently the bank branch that he used was absolutely giddy to send him out with that many singles.
My branch was somewhat less than amused.
I nearly E36 M3 my pants laughing.
Sesame seeds you wicked, wicked nemesis...you lure me in with your crunchy goodness and then BANG, you wedge yourselves in between my teeth.

Or...it is working. Stewart mentioned it, got me to think about it, and it even got you to mention it by name. As you said, the end game of advertising is to get you to buy. The first step is to get you thinking and talking about it.
I had no desire to buy Frosted Flakes beforehand, I'm even less interested in them now.

I had some on my salad for lunch. They were quite tasty. I did not get them stuck in my teeth for a change so no rants from me.

When I bought the S60R, I needed a couple days' advance notice to get $3800 in cash, because the buyer didn't trust any other form of payment.
Banks do not carry cash anymore.
The bank I dealt with for 35 years made me do exactly the same thing. I assumed it was an industry wide practice until I went to another bank with my Mom and Stepdad, neither of which having their wits entirely about them, and watched them take ten grand out of their chequing account... because it's always good to have some money on hand.
I no longer deal with that bank

You're lucky, my stack wasn't banded. Just one big stack stuffed in an envelope. My youngest had fun counting it.

Customer needs a big industrial fan. I look one up in Grainger, throw tax, crane lift and labor at it. submit the quote. Customer signs the contract. I go to order it and...... "Not available for sale in California". I go back to the webpage and there, several lines below "Expected to arrive Fri. May 24." is "This item is restricted in certain states."
Now my quote is E36 M3e. There's a 95 percent percent liklihood that Gavin Newsom has something to do with this. That's a rant for another day, which I'll refrain from for political reasons, but goddamn it Grainger, don't hide this information in the small print.
Edit: So evidently fans sold in California need to have a fan energy index of 1.0 or higher. It's a poorly-conceived formula that in some instances will do more harm than good. But we found a work-around. A PITA, but it'll work.

I was trying out a local bank since my Wells Fargo in town closed.
Asked for $800 on a check that was many times that, was told no. Not because they were worried about the check but that they didn't have that in the building at 2pm on a Tuesday . I ended up getting $650 in 10s and 20s.
Yeah...,.closed that account right away
Lions tickets went on presale today for people on the season tickets waiting list. Rant: holy E36 M3 did the ticket prices go up since the team doesn't suck. I just spent ten grand for sixteen tickets.

I have a policy on sporting events. I don't go unless that tickets are 100% free. I've gone to multiple Penguins, Pirates, and Steeler games since being stuck in Pittsburgh. My policy has served me well.

Yer gonna be back on that corner if you keep that up! I subscribe to Scotty's method, been to many games over the years on the vendor's dime.
In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :
I only go to sporting events where I have some reason other than the sport to be there- i.e., cheering on a friend/family member or it's a charity event (like the Lexington Legends game coming up that is supporting The Dancer's non-profit). But then, I've never really been much into just watching sportsball- I got more than enough of doing that back in HS & college when I was in Marching Band and had to be at pretty much every game.

how far down from the rafters are you for that kind of coin?
With the 49ers, Giants and Warriors as my local teams, I only go when a generous friend or vendor steps up. When the Warriors were the talk of the league, nosebeeds to games featuring cellar dwellers were several hundred bucks (face value anyway). In other words, you Detroiters don't know how good you have it.

Out of curiosity, was it a Big Ass Fan? It always makes me smile when I see them around both because a) they're a local company so I like seeing them get business and b) the name always makes me giggle
(Pointless aside: I ways back my brother was working as an equestrian instructor at a church camp and my family went and visited during one of the Family Weekends they hosted. They have a big outdoor, covered amphitheater and since it's in mid-Missouri and it gets hot and muggy in the summer, they had a few like 6' tall floor fans to keep air circulating. I was curious so I went over and looked and confirmed that yes, they were indeed Big Ass Fans- but almost couldn't keep from laughing out loud when I saw that they'd painted over the 'Ass' in the name/logo every place on the fans...)

Even then, they can be too expensive. I went to a Panthers game once with a few friends when I was living in the CLT area; got free tickets from work. The game sucked, the weather was horrible, and I didn't even want to have a beer because it was so miserably cold. I bought a couple of hot chocolates and left in the 3rd quarter, and felt relieved to be out of there.
A couple of weeks ago I stood in a cold rain to watch my 7 year old play an 8U baseball game, and had an infinitely better time.

Hey, at least CARB is looking to double gas tax rates next year in that state.

Do they redact their Bibles, too?

We have apparently had another competitor that has either reduced their workforce or has gone out of business.
You would think this would be a win instead of a rant but we can not keep up with the influx of work. We are having to schedule new customers a week out and that makes customer service look like crap.
I bought another truck last week to pull the oldest off the road. Looks like one of the new guys is getting stuck in it and thrown to the wolves.
Time to start looking for another truck.

Approximately mid-field, 10 rows from the field, behind Lions bench.

Red Wings and Lions tickets are included in pimp budget. I still have $2500 for calendar year 2024.
8 months lead time for a replacement wear item on a 5 year old piece of equipment? Do better.
