I really wish people would stop trying to have conversations with me in the restroom, whether it's work related or not. Everyone knows my office is less than 30 paces from the bathroom, can we please go in there to discuss the finer points of this topic instead of standing in front of the urinals as people are coming in/out around us?

Good luck with your interview.

Just spent an hour trying to program a Homelink remote to our garage door opener, only to find out I need a 'compatibility bridge' to the tune of $40. Rant one: I would have figured that out in about 5 minutes if the garage door opener (and the Homelink) website wasn't utterly useless. Rant two: is backwards compatibility that difficult? I understand I'm sacrificing a bit of security, but can't I make that choice without having to buy extra hardware?
Yes, when you change things it changes the price. Yes I know that you've spent what you consider a lot of money but when I bid on something and then you change it, the bid changes. I have explained this to you over and over, to the point that either you are an idiot or malicious.
I won't deal with either

It's funny how people complain about cars and updates or the lack of them even though the car can still be driven. I have a B&N Nook that they decided to just stop supporting. So all of the books I've bought over the years are only available via a web browser, since they also don't have a PC app to download the books.
Basically, the device is bricked and I don't own the books I paid for.
At least you can drive a car when the nav system isn't working.
Awesome follow up (not). Tried to get the new B&N Nook. Started it up, and it went into an endless loop "looking for updates". Did that all night until it ran out of batteries. So I took it back to the store- turns out they have a known loop during updates. Yay. They tried to fix the one, then exchanged it for a different one- and in the store's wi-fi, exactly the same thing.
So I'm done with Barnes and Noble. I have +160 books I've bought over the years, and can only read them on my phone via the app. I hate reading on my phone- it's too bright.
Good thing that local and small bookstores are making a comeback.

Have you looked into whether or not you can convert the files to something else that you can read on a different device? Or (since you've already paid for the books...) find the files for the books elsewhere that can be converted and read on something else?
I've been trying for most of the day to print new wheel adapters for the bed frame being used in The Dancer's show (the normal bed wheels don't roll well enough and are bad for the marley on the stage, so I printed adapters to use larger, rubber-ringed wheels on it). I think I tried 5 times with the print coming off the bed at different times in the print, the last few times adjusting the Z offset to lower the print head closer to the bed. Finally after the last failure I decided that this was ridiculous and took the time to run the Z offset calibration- and found that it was off by nearly a millimeter- which is a lot to be off by. Frankly I'm impressed that it printed at all before- and racking my brain a bit I think that I hadn't run the calibration since I had to put a new Z probe on the printer after the old one died.
So after most of the day of my being an idiot, it's finally looking like it's going to print properly as the first layer looks infinitely better than any of the previous ones.

I have. And I can not. If I could download the books to my PC, I could just copy them over to the old nook, but that's not even possible anymore. The PC nook app ended 11/23. Apparently there's a convoluted way to run an android emulator on a PC, but it's way too much work for what I do.
I'll have to do some work to find another way, but I've already gotten a kindle.

If you have an iPhone, or an iPad should do it too, you can turn on the Night Shift and Low Light filter (google how to set it up). That combined with a black background and white text is pretty good even in the dark.
In reply to mtn :
I'll give that a try. Thankfully, I only got 4 books to read Saturday. So even if I don't like it to the eink, I can tolerate it for 4 books.
Some people should have their tools taken away.
"There's no rust scale on these hubs but by God I'm gonna use a cookie to take the brown away even if it makes the once-flat surfaces scalloped."
Sigh.
Take photos, make addendum to inspection, and a note that if a pulsation happens in the future, the hubs and wheel bearings will need to be replaced due to damage from a previous service.
I found a solution to some of your problems. Doesn't even require batteries .

I had to replace my old tablet with new.
I had a lot of Baen books on the old tablet. They were in html format, chapter by chapter.
The new tablet's file manager has ads. The Google-built file manager doesn't have an option for details view, only small icons and big icons. And the tablet doesn't have an HTML reader. HTML files don't even show up in File Manager.
Unless it is photographs, I hate using icons for anything file related. Give me TEXT gorramit.
Two of the traffic lights on my commute have too short greens, one of them only lets 2-3 cars through. Without these my drive would probably be 10 minutes shorter

I've on a few occasions 'cheated' and found torrents of electronic versions of books I own physically and converted them to read on my Kindle when space has been a premium (usually before a trip when we're flying and carrying a half dozen physical books would not be fun). I know it's possible to convert and send most kinds of files to a Kindle as I've done it, you just have to be able to find the electronic versions.
Boomer asks;
I don't remember Chevrolet calling their truck a Silverado back in the day but now every Chevrolet truck is a Silverado.
When did the actual name come about? (1999 model year)

In reply to Datsun240ZGuy :
Silverado used to be a trim, if I recall correctly. Before that it was a C/K (2WD/4wd) 1500/2500/3500.
In reply to Datsun240ZGuy :
I'm yanking 1971 out of my butt, but I sure could be wrong. I can picture a 72 C25 with the 9 foot bed having Silverado on the fender trim. If not, I am pretty sure it was the top trim level by mid square body time.
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
Newfangled internet says 1975 was the first model year for the use of the name - as a trim package, not a model.
And I used to think my dad's '72 K20 must have been absolute top of the line. It said Custom/Deluxe right on the fenders. Custom Deluxe! Where else can you go from there?
We know Wiki is always correct, right?
Minor rant: I'm feeling pretty dadgum wore out. It's to the point that I'm not really interested in much of anything anymore. There is not much I want to do.

I feel this more than I can express.
And it sucks
Did a much needed alignment on the Mazda5 yesterday. Took the car for a drive, and handling was much improved. Rotated the tires, putting the worn fronts on the back, so they'll be easier to remove when I replace them (The jack doesn't fit under the front without driving onto some boards), and left the car for the evening.
Drove it this morning. Holy crap, the tires I moved up front are bad, despite having pretty even tread wear. Some of it may be a bit of imbalance, but I suspect one of them has a broken belt. At least now I know where the bad road noise has been coming from. Also, guess I'm replacing all four tires instead of just two.
Had to put my mom's Bichon to sleep yesterday. 17 years this ball of fluff has been in our lives in some way, old age and cancer finally caught up to her. As mom is 78, she doesn't want another dog as it might outlive her, the house seems too quiet now.
