The "Customer Relations Manager" at work is a complete jackass
All day long he pages people to his office who are completely across the building from him to get them to do menial tasks that he could do if he even looked at the problem.
We went upstairs to accounting one time to "fix a filing cabinet"
They said the drawer wouldn't open. We pulled a little harder and it proceeded to open and close like normal.
Rather than trying the obvious solution, which is what we did, he walked upstairs, looked at the drawer, and called someone else to "fix" it without even trying it himself.

The other day I heard the funniest page of my life, though:
(name has been changed to protect the innocent)
"Sobert Ralem" intercom: "Sharon, find Sobert Ralem. Sharon, please find Sobert Ralem."

I looked at my buddy Mike and said "help! he's lost! somebody find him!"
laughed for a good ten minutes

Before you file a complaint about a subordanate, make sure your ducks are in a row or you can come away looking rather inept.

If there is a god, he hates me for some reason.

This weekend plan: Come home, with Yugo in tow. Fix brakelines on POS sunfire, put it back on the road for winter, park the Yugo I just towed home. Leave early Sunday and explore the Irish Hills on my way back to Detroit.

Actual: Rained all day, will rain tomorrow too. I get to fix brakelines laying in a puddle of water and brake fluid. Yipee!

Previous Weekend plan: Fix Yugo (bad gas suspected) so I can drive it home

Actual: Yugo loses spark again, refuses fuel siphoning.

This keeps going back, I haven't had a good day for at least 2 weeks, which has felt more like 20. Most weeknights I haven't slept much, working on school work instead. I cant remember what I was doing 3 days ago. Nothing goes my way anymore. This E36 M3 seriously sucks, I need a vacation or something.

Can't blame God for car trouble when you own a Yugo and a Sunfire. That would be like blaming him for making the Scotch hurt my liver.

To the Craigslist seller who made an appt for me to go see the item you had listed and then sold it to someone else right before I got there and laughed as the other buyer was loading the item into his car while I stood there dumbfounded. Berk you, discourteous geezer. I woke up early on a Saturday instead of sleeping in and even got there earlier than our agreed upon time. Stay classy.

At least it was a short drive there and back

You should have told him you were prepared to spend $XXX more than he was asking. That'd wipe the smile off his face.

To the 'stalled project' thread:

Screw you for making me again think of that useless old hunk of rusty metal in the garage as a truck again. I am getting super tired of not working on it, and I was just getting to the point where it was OK to ignore it again. Couple that with the Tunachuckers HQ moving out-of-state and having no place to store the LTD, and I again am getting pissed off at myself for underestimating the time required to rear children. I took this silly thing apart five years ago. I paused to have kid #1, and then paused again to have kid #2. I never started again after that. Kid #4 is coming in a month, so not only is there no time, but there is also no money.

If I could only get two weeks of uninterpreted time on the stupid thing I might be able to get it finished and out of the garage. As it is, the kids don't understand why I have a rusty, non-drivable, mostly taken apart hunk pf steel in a garage. It was worth $1400 when I bought it, I must have bought $3k worth of parts and as it sits it's worth maybe $500 in scrap. Nicely done, jerk (talking to myself now).

Dear fellow employee with the power of veto over repairs:

I came to you and asked if you would assist with a repair on a car with ~120k miles that had been sold ~5 weeks ago. You said the car was sold 'as is' and you were not going to participate in the repairs.

I am the lucky guy who gets to pass this on to the customer, who immediately blows a hole in my ass. Okay, that's fine. He then goes over my head and yours, the big boss doesn't want to hear it so he says to get it fixed.

He obviously burnt you a new one; that's the only reason you stopped at my desk to claim I misunderstood. I have to nod and go uh huh, since you can also fire my ass.

Don't be surprised when I look for 'redundancy' in our dealings. You may not even know it's happening. And like Wally says, if you are gonna throw something on a subordinate be VERY sure your ducks are lined up and quacking.

Interviews SHOULD be a two way street. They are interviewing me and I am interviewing them at the same time.

In the past, I have turned down some jobs because the potential manager didn't pass my interview.

The job may sound awesome and pay was decent, but none of that matters (to me) if the manager that has clout and been around forever is an asshat.

My rant is simply being normal would be awesome. I've been practicing it since the clutch blew up in the rallycar. Easily two of the most relaxed weeks in over a year I've had, hanging out with friends, eating meals at regular times, working 9-5 and that is it.
