Been cleaning out the shop lately of old parts, unused equipment and selling off old projects. Hope to sell the Bridgeport this week.
Sooner or later I need to focus on cleaning up my house as it's been pretty neglected the last few years and it shows. I just been working too damn much lately to take care of everything, that's changing too. Gotta make time for me and my life.
Couple weeks ago at work I brought up where to find good house cleaners. My buddy says his widowed uncle had a good one, cleaned his tubes out too while she was there. Be sure to get ya one like that. Really.
Well, I ain't never needed a house cleaner before or a prostitute FTM, well there was that young one down in Clairton but that been twenny years.
This morning at breakfast this new woman I been seein' says she can get me a good house cleaner. Her agenda here is so she can have more time w/ me as I see it, always buggin' me for more n more time lately. She was a street-wise kid, former bartender w/ connections, knows all the E36 M3 in town. And BTW she says, this house cleaner will clean my tubes out good, one stop shop. Really? You good w/ dat? Where the berkeley I been, not that I discount any of it around here or been naiive FTM. I had no idear, I just never had to look.
I dunno about the house work just yet but I finished our conversation this morning w/ if ya can find a girl who can clean my truck and my tubes we'll talk.

What are you gonna do if it's Amy?
So - are you selling the Bridgeport?

First refusal goes to the FIL of the guy who bought my '81 Chevy PU project. Very fair price w/ them. If not goin' to CL w/ price increase.
One of the few drawbacks of living in Eugene, OR is the fact that the state has decreed us incapable of pumping our own gasoline.
I know my car is a major PITA to fill. Old Fords were always bad and modern pumps make it worse. I only go to certain stations that I know have the best luck and when I do I tell the pump jockey to finish the other customers before starting with me because it has to be handheld and trickled in.
The new girl this morning was ridiculous. I explained the usual and she nodded, went around back, jammed the nozzle in and hit it full blast. I watched her dive out of the way of the spray of fuel coming back at her. She did this 15 times until I got out of the car and said "No! just barely pull the trigger"
As soon as she got it filling she let go of the nozzle which fell to the ground. Then she did it again, and again, and again. I stepped in and told her "I've got it, don't worry. Go help another customer" and she said "You can't pump your own gas sir" I told her to imagine my car was a motorcycle (for some reason motorcycles get an exemption on the self serve thing)
I have never seen anyone that is incapable of learning from experience before. For most of us one failure is enough. Two if you're stubborn, but then you change your plan. This person would have clearly shot fuel all over herself for an hour before giving up without ever changing her tact.

That has to be one of the most stupid automotive laws in the country. The government in that state needs punched in the mouth.
I believe it has more to do with "job creation" than regulating what the citizens can do but it winds up doing a poor job of both.

isn't NJ in that same stupid mode ?
It's 4 in the morning and I can't sleep. Financial stresses are really getting to me and I don't see any decent ways to fix them. I know there are things I can do but canceling satellite tv, while it sounds good in theory would really cut into our main entertainment venue.
If I were sensible I'd sell the Passat and get rid of that payment but I'm upside down on it by a couple of grand.
Why does money have to be so difficult?

Yes, it is. The BRAT had the same problem, and I used to just jump out and start filling it before they got to me.
"Sir, you can't pump your own gas here."
"Listen man, this thing will catch fire if you don't fill it right. You want that responsibility? I've got this."

The threat of fire works every time.
People getting coffee and tea- when the milk container is empty, it's now trash. Throw it away.

Also when the coffee pot has an 1/8" of coffee left in it, dump it and turn off the warmer. Do not put it on the burner to dry up and make the coffee pot useless.

The 'D is the same way- have to pump the first few gallons slowly since it doesn't have a modern-day vent system... if you just hit it full-bore from the get-go it will spray back out fairly quickly (which is far more annoying on it than a 'normal' car since the gas filler is essentially IN the 'trunk'). Thankfully I live far away from anyplace that won't let me pump my own gas.
And you have NO idea how difficult it was to not write that as one giant euphemism...
Screwed up royally with SWMBO last night and am (justifiably) in the proverbial doghouse for it. Not often I will rant against my own stupidity, but this is definitely one of those cases. Badly out of sorts this morning as a result.
Making things even better, the cats have been on their new food completely since the beginning of the week (was phasing out their old food)- and found fresh vomit that was clearly the new food this morning. Don't know if I should assume that it's at fault or give it a bit more time to see if they just need to completely get the old food out of their system.
Drove the Volvo to work this morning, I got to pondering, yep, it's been 5 years since I did the timing belt, actually it was 5 years this past March/April-ish, so I'm past due on time, who knows on mileage? I really don't want to do the timing belt, I'm getting tired of maintenance and fixing projects. I can't justify paying labor for something I can do myself, but I can't convince myself that "my time" is worth more than an indy's labor. Also, I don't like other people touching my things.
I guess I'll finish the evaporator replacement on the XJ, and delve into the timing belt on the Volvo. The whole fleet will all eventually be 100% and maintenance free right? One can dream.

I'm in the same situation. We finally found a food that doesn't make the cats hurl all over the place, and the vet yells at us because they're losing a little weight and she doesn't like that brand.

My 2002 Camry is due for another timing belt change as well. I am thinking of calling a few local Toyota specialists for a quote. If it is less than $400 I will just pay to have it done. If it is more than $400 I guess I'll be learning how to do a DOHC V6 Toyota timing belt.
I had actually hoped to unload the Camry in favor of a minivan. Unfortunately my wife backed into the Camry last week and lunched the passenger side quarter panel. I guess I'll be driving it forever since the value of the car isn't high enough to warrant body repairs, but it was still worth enough in good condition to fetch decent money. I'm just doomed to drive a E36 M3ty daily driver I guess.

Is that an interference engine?

Nope, but if the belt pops I'd rather not be in the fast lane of 285 at the time.

shudder PTSD moment from driving a rental Cobalt there....oh did I mention the one rear brake was sticky? Yeah found that out at the first 85-90mph stop, that quickly became a slideways panic stop.

This is why I sold my 66 CJ5, my Cagiva Grand Canyon (Ducati engined motorcycle) and my 1994 Explorer and bought my Focus.

Your rants remind me that I need to change the heater core on my 1992 Camaro. It puked coolant all over the passenger side foot well when it was pulled out of storage for the Dream Cruise. It's old, but only has 19K miles on it. Things do go bad just sitting there...
I just bypassed it for now and am using the car as my DD for a while to try to do a good job of getting all the old gas used up. I am not looking forward to digging into the dash at all.
