So the plan for the day was to pull the rear axle out of the junk Samurai, give it the once over and rebuild the brakes, then paint it and get it ready to install in the silver Samurai next weekend. I need to get this done so I can flat tow it to the un-zu event in NC.
Naturally it's raining. I guess I'm cleaning the shop today.

Similar boat here as I really need to work outside today but prolly ain't cut grass in a month... grass needs it desperately.

Right there with you on the yard and rain. So I helped the wife clean the house, and am now building cabinets to hopefully get the shop put back together enough to fix the truck.

I need to do the same, but instead did an oil change/tire rotation on the Jetta in the drizzly rain....
Got a later start by a long shot than I wanted getting to the junkyard this morning, but did get the engine pulled and safely transported back home and tucked away on the engine stand in the garage for inspection. Unfortunately while helping the forklift driver in pulling the engine I gouged my arm nicely on the sharp metal of the front of the van that I'd cut away to get clearance to pull the engine. And since I've not had a tetanus shot in like 20 years, lost an hour going to the clinic to have it looked at and getting the shot.
Got a cold. Not a good time to be sick. Also slept on my shoulders funny last night. Now both of them are killing me.
At least my head does t hurt when I lay down anymore. That made for a miserable nights sleep split between the bed and the recliner last night.

Somehow I qualified for an unsecured credit card from Capital One. Not sure if this is good, bad, or indifferent, but I signed up for it anyway. The interest rate is hideous but I shouldn't see it if I pay it off 100% every month.
Gotta start somewhere, I guess.
Dusterbd13 wrote: But you got an engine? And no stitches? That's a win in my book.
Got an engine- about $190 excluding gas to get there and back. Mostly complete, the only thing that I didn't get besides the accessories was the water pump- the fan had been damaged and I couldn't get the nut free so figured I'd just call it an opportunity to get a new one. One valve cover was damaged in the rather rough extraction, but that's easily enough stolen from the original engine. Includes the exhaust manifolds- I probably could have left the accessories attached if I'd tried since there was no apparent communication between the forklift driver and the checkout- I just told them I had a V6 engine and they rang it up and I paid for it.
No stitches, just the vaccine booster and a bunch of topical antibiotic. Looks bad, but really doesn't hurt unless I bump it.
dealing with people on craigslist today. asking questions that are clearly answered in the add, weird ass trades and all kinds of fun stuff. im about too just keep the damn truck and find a 2 barrel intake and stock carb!
Bought new wheels and tires for the Evo.
Also purchased TPMS sensors.
After everything was together, discovered that the Evo can only have one set of TPMS codes in it's system at a time AND I need a special tool (AKA dealer access) to change them.
Nearest dealer is 50 miles away.
(Extra points since I can't reset them for free at work)
So, I get to shell out for cloned sensors and another round of mount and balance fees, or have the TPMS light blinking at me anytime I'm running my AX wheels.
Awesome.

while that's NOT the way your CC issuer wants you to use their card… it IS the smart way
be anal as E36 M3 about NOT spending for stuff just because you have a card … get where you're comfortable with being able to wonder around without much cash and you can eventually use the card for nearly all of your spending … this works great if you're disciplined about not over spending… + most cards these days "give" back rewards points (in my case $$ cash)
good luck

black electrical tape FTW .. if they're just your autoX tires, who cares if the light blinks ?

Today is sunny, cool and just beautiful. Perfect wrenching weather.
Naturally, it's not going to happen again. The wife's Jeep came home on a flatbed wrecker last night. It died on the way home.
I hate working on the DDs.
In reply to Appleseed:
Really trying to avoid half-assing anything with this car.
Plus I'd need to cover damn near the entire readout, Mitsubishi really wanted me to know that there is an issue.
Hey Ebay sellers.
I expect you to ship the things I buy within two business days, if not the next day.
Giving me a tracking number then not actually shipping it for a week is unacceptable, will get you a less than positive review.

Kinda normal with sellers offering free shipping. Usually those making you pay for shipping ship them out pretty quick. It's weird.

A little more than just a blinking light.
More frustrated that I have to either buy and clone a set of sensors or drive and pay every few weeks during the summer.
Doubting tire rack will take back the - useless to me - sensors I have meow.
Bonus points because I can't turn off traction control until I've waited a few seconds and cleared the larger TPMS light.
Once a day, fine.
Every autocross run, berkeley that.
I heard someone saying somewhere that they took the sensors and put them in a pressurized pvc pipe with cap, and stuck it in the trunk. I've never seen it in action, just on a forum somewhere, but it seems like it would be a cool idea to try
