It seems that in my little town in Texas every SINGLE person who comes into the dealership is 3' tall and has to have the seat pulled as close to the steering wheel as mechanically possible. I don't have a problem in moving the seat back, but I seem to think it's kind of rude to do that and not put it back where they had it. For the most part they have memory seats and I just set it as #1 and off we go. The problem I have is, when I do this, to be as polite as possible, I still get people who bitch at me because the #1 setting was for their husband and not for them and now he has to reset it to how he had it. You just can not win with some people...

Then there's the dumb berkeleytards who are pissed because they cannot switch between setting 1 and setting 2 while driving. Hey, dumbasses: if you are 6'2" and your wife is 5'1" and suddenly the seats etc go to the wrong setting while driving, guess what?

I saw karma attack one of my pet peeves last night.

I have noticed that a LOT of people drive with their physical body in the middle of the lane. NOT the cars.. the driver's body. This usually puts the passenger wheels on the line or slightly over.

Last night, on dark road with no shoulder, saw an idiot dump two wheels off of the road because of this.. he lost control and took out a mailbox.

I am so sick of conspiracy theorist! What in the berkeleying hell... no seriously... why in the hell are there people talking about Sandy Hook conspiracy theories. I just wasted 30 minutes of my life watching a "smoking gun" video(according to some coworkers) of Sandy Hook being a hoax. Really? For real? I want my 30 minutes back. Idiots.

Sick, annoying, disgusting, pathetic, there are many words to describe it.

My boss was one of the guys talking about it today and wants to hear my opinion on it tomorrow. Not as a boss but as a buddy. I already hate conspiracy theories of all sorts but this one takes the cake in low down, dirty, scum-bag-itry I can think of.

Apparently the "hoax" is that every single other shooting has released video, but not Sandy Hook. The conspiracy theory is that the gunman left the AR-15 in the trunk (which all the initial news reports did say) and only used pistols, ala Virginia Tech. If that gets out, Obama/Congress/NWO can't take away our "assault weapons".

Don't get me wrong, I am an avid gun collector and have owned several of these "evil black rifles", but the 30 minute video I just watched seemed just as stupid as 9/11 conspiracy theories.

The AR-15 being left in the trunk was really their key point and making the medical examiner seem like he is covering something up, everything else is all saying it was acting. Riiiiiiiiiiight. Just like we never landed on the moon. Because it is really easy to keep thousands of mouths shut. See how that works at your job with just 10 people.

Also, if I drop my truck off with you to have the (warrantied) transmission repaired, DON'T DICK WITH THE CARBURETOR WHILE YOU'RE AT IT. I've got a new set of throttle return springs (more than one; that pedal is stiffer than a 16 year old hiding in a girls locker room), the idle is too high, and I suspect the throttle cable has been shortened to boot.

I've yet to look, but if I find out these "repairs" were done because he mashed his foot to the floor and broke the throttle cable...

GRRRRRR

This is why I never take my car anywhere.

Related rant from a long time ago. Freestyle transmission puked. Good news, it's under warranty from the PO replacement. Great, I don't have to pay or get dirty.

The day after I get it back, I get a call from the wife stranded in the parking lot of the kids school with it, and the kids. I drive over. Battery cables are loose. Nice job, guys.

Sorry man, prove it and make them pay.

My fiance started a job a bit over a month ago. After job hunting for many months, she jumped on the first opportunity that presented itself.

It was represented as being an HR administrator, turned out that it was telephone recruiting for door to door sales.

Here are some highlights.

Didnt discuss compensation until her 3rd day working

Made her use her personal cell phone for recruitment calls

she had to bring in her personal computer in order to work

They didnt maintain timesheets

"salaried" position, with the hours they asked it was under minimum wage

No benefits would be discussed until she had been there a few months.

Boss asking her to use her personal bank card to rent him a car (umm, hell NO)

No sick time

As well as many other things.

She quit the job after being there for only a month.

Now they are stiffing her out of her last two paychecks.

Need to figure the best way to pursue them and make them give her her pay.

Labor bureau, small claims, ??? how does one do this?

I would be happy to put them out of business.

@Apexcarver: Sounds like you should talk to the Department of Labor. They should be able to tell you what to do to get the last paychecks back. They can not hold them, even if they claim she did something wrong or even owed them money. Paychecks are sacred and require lots of procedure to garnish for anything, even by the employer.

After getting the paychecks, she should think about reporting them for wage violations. Also, any chance they aren't withholding taxes right - treating her as a contractor, etc? She's not a contractor if they tell her when to do things or how to do them. If they're treating her as one incorrectly and she reports them to the IRS she can get a cut of the penalties.

I would ordinarily not be excited about sharing those things, being an employer myself, but these people sound like they need to be put down.

Will look closer at the tax thing.

I do think they were breaking some laws with the Salary and unrecorded overtime (they wanted 12 hour days, but never in writing). But it is going to be hard to prove any of that.

I think they are just incompetent, but I still have my eyes out for the nigerian prince in the whole thing.

I wish we could pull her file and take it from the company, we know as a fact that they do not lock up their employees personal information (SSN and such) which makes me nervous as hell.

Did some research with the Labor Bureau, they strongly suggest hitting them with a certified letter demanding payment (with a deadline) before starting their process. Even still, we are going to do everything short of hiring a lawyer to report their missteps from here on out.

I understand your reluctance, I also understand where you are coming from. It is people like these that make ornerous regulations have to be made to protect people, making your life harder as an honest employer. Thanks for the suggestions Dculb.

When you bring your car in to find out the problem, and I tell you there is a diagnostic charge and you agree to it, then agree to the work, then change your mind cuz you can't afford it, don't get pissed when the special order part has a restocking fee and you still get charged the diagnostic tear down time to find said problem.

Ugh!

With you being a British comedy and Mitchell and Webb look fan, you MUST watch Peep Show if you have not already. It is such an awesome show.

Try being the tech to the limpwristed SA AND SM that allows the customer to waive those charges after said customer acts like a 2yr old. So you aren't getting paid. Or the same limpdick SA that has to question EVERYTHING you put down to fix a customer's vehicle per the complaint. Yes, electrical diag is tedious and time consuming. Yes, I did already spend 3 hrs chasing my ass to find the broke wire in the harness that was taking the bus down for which you will question and ask to compromise for 30 minutes instead..... Sell or GTFOH and let me do your damn job too!

My fathers basement flooded with a thin layer of water. My magazine collection was being stored down there, around 5 years of hot rod, GRM, and various other magazines Ive had subscriptions too. So they got wet, but surely only maybe the bottom 5 in the stack would be affected right? Well apparently the whole 30+ lb lot was thrown out. Along with my old stamp collection. I am not happy.

Dear "Runner chicks",

I realize its, like, so much fun to run three abreast, against traffic, on a hilly 55mph road so you all can, like, talk about the super yummy wheat-grass smoothy you had for breakfast that morning. Just be aware that leaves me nowhere to drive my vehicle, except into oncoming traffic, on the back side of a blind hill, on a double yellow line. I was both willing (since my family wasn't with me) and, by the grace of God, able to make this maneuver without killing myself, you or anyone in the other lane. Just a little PSA, though. The next person over the hill might be a blue haired granny who can't see 10 feet in front of her Buick and she will bounce the three of you off the hood without even slowing down. Have a super sparkly day!!
