I have been trying to figure when driving down the road with the driver's body over the centre of the lane became a thing. It leaves the whole of the passenger side of the car hugging or even over the white line
Wow, I wish drivers were like that around here. In my neck of the woods, people drive with their bodies in the center of the roadway, not their lane. And I don't mean riding the crown on a rural road; I mean coming down a residential street straight towards me and pushing me into the curb on my side, when there's a solid 5 feet of clear space between your car and the parked cars on your side of the road.
I'm beginning to think that any quote (time-wise) I'm given by the cylinder head shop needs to have about 2-3 days added on to it as I've still not heard anything back from him about the PAU's heads being done despite being told on Monday that they'd likely be done the next day. If I've not heard anything back by this afternoon I'll have to call and check, since I REALLY would like to have them back by the weekend to try and get started putting the engine back together. Of course, the weather is supposed to turn cold and crappy over the weekend after being in the 60s in the afternoons this week, so that's just icing on the cake.

Yeah this weekends weather is going to suck! Wife had me busy all day yesterday so i still need to change the cars valvecover gasket, muffler and fix a hole in the exhaust on my truck and build seat brackets. Luckily i can put it off until next weekend if needed.

Dear Autozone Chinese-made ball joint. 2600 miles, and you're already clunking and popping. I hate you. As of next week, you can SUCK MY LEFT MOOG.
Did it have a zerk? You've gotta pump all the factory grease out of the cheap parts to make them live.
Hellz no, they don't have Zerks. I only went with the Autozone ball joints because, when I finally got the car back from my older daughter (after 5 years of abuse and utter failure to follow my maintenence instructions) they were so shot it's miracle they hadn't actually broken. They were on the shelf and needed to be done RTHN. To be fair, the Autozone China POSs probably weren't intended to stand up to 300 lb/in linear rate springs and stiff tires I have on the car now. Which is why I have a pair of MOOG's on the way from rockauto.com
the infamous O2 "spacer" trick has bitten me on the ass. I always thought that Cats on my Disco looked sketchy... well, it is throwing a code for cat efficiency and that bank two is running lean.. so I bought new o2 sensors are they are due for replacement... get under the truck and see that the downstream sensor is "spaced" from the exhaust flow.. so to do a proper repair, I have to replace the downpipes with the cats.. thankfully it's only an $800 part from Magnaflow for 50 state compliance.. but still, this was supposed to be an easy afternoon's fix.. not something to make my wallet pucker because some previous owner was a tightwad and didn't care how badly he was damaging the environment
"It's starting making a weird noise from the front when I go slow, at first it was like a scraping and now it's like a grinding kinda machine-gun noise"
The fiance describing her 2012 Focus. Looks like I know what I'll be doing this weekend. Diagnosing weird front end noises is one of my least favorite things to do.
At least she's noticing things and didn't just keep driving it.
Add frank sinatra junior to list. Wow, big big year so far. Why can't it be any of the Kardashians that goes away? Or any of these talentless hacks screaching on the radio? So much talent gone, even in the racing world with Dave Mirra last month.
Local restaurant has a room with the WORST acoustics ever. So bad, I sat down and felt like I was having a panic attack all through dinner. Room is all wood panels and ceiling, with pictures with glass fronts, and a half dozen tin palm trees in the middle of the room up to the ceiling.
Every sound gets reflected and you can't actually pick out where the sources are. And it's right next to the kitchen.
^The panic attack feeling means there's probably infrasound of around 19Hz bouncing around too.
In reply to Beer Baron:
We have one of those, too- but it's always packed. Their relief- once it warms up, the doors open up, and I'm sure a lot of the sound is lost.
Acoustics must be a bitch for designers. There was a restaurant here that deflected every noise in the building to the middle of the dining area. Terrible.
You!!!! The person who put this damn carburetor on my truck:
The stock Toyota carb had been working for 25 years straight and never missed a beat. Why why WHY did you feel the need to replace it with this old ass weber!?!
and if you WERE going to replace something that was working, then why didn't you take the time and do it right!?! I mean seriously, this is the wrong linkage, you didn't even bother hooking up the choke wire, the choke coil was fried in half, your chopped air filter box was awful, that nail you used for a choke rod sucked, you didn't bother installing a fuel pressure regulator... I'm so damn sick and tired of finding and fixing your hacks I swear as soon as this Afla gets finished I'm robbing a 22RE for every bit of its injection system and I'm going to be done with it.
Send me your address so I can mail you this cursed piece of E36 M3.

Not exactly a rant, just an observation: Our company awesomely booked our big conference room with 6 LARGE tv's, and brought in a 7th on wheels, for us to watch the college basketball games during lunch. Even better than that, they got us all PIZZA!!!!
Well, the pizza was from a very good place and it was excellent. They also got a few gluten free pizza's, and I tried a small slice just to try it. Wow. That was horrible. I'm damn sure glad that I'm not celiac.

I believe this goes in the "I'm in a dang good mood thread"
What company do you work for so I can apply?
Weather inspired lazyness, mostly just annoyed at my lack of motivation too work on anything since its back below 40 out. Its not that cold but with the upper 60 degree weather we just had i have no willpower to finish my trucks exhaust or do the valve cover gasket on my car.

Its a bank. The perks are good, sure, but we're slow to get behind things like this. We don't even get casual Friday (waaa waaa wahhh I know).

And it was the brakes. I'm not sure how worn out rotors grinding translated to "machine gun noise" but an hour and some new pads/rotors later and she's back on the road happy as can be and that's important thing.
I've been looking at a house the past few weeks, kinda plain farmhouse that definitely needs a bit of work, but awesome location and includes a barn and other outbuildings (i.e. E36 M3LOADS of garage space.) Had really been planning to rent another year before buying, but came across this place which had piqued my interest and my parents had offered to loan me a bit of money to help with the upfront costs.
So Monday evening I put an offer in. Now, mind you, this place has been on the market 500+ days without a single offer. As I mentioned, the house itself definitely needs a bit of work to be move in ready, yet the asking price was not really representative of that - there are two very comparable properties listed in the area that validate that opinion. So the offer reflected that, and I was pretty much expecting the initial offer to be rejected, but it was certainly not insultingly low. Or at least that's what I thought, the sellers apparently feel differently. Rejected it today outright without even making a counter offer. berkeleyers.
Just a bit of a let down, as I guess I had apparently gotten my hopes up pretty high. It seems that their sense of value is far enough out of whack that there is little chance we'll come to an agreement. Now I get to go back to the game of trying to find a "goldilocks" rental that permits dogs, suits the GF's wants, and if I'm really lucky actually even has a place I can work on my cars. All within the next 4 weeks, when my current room mate's GF moves in and I become homeless. FML
Sometimes I think if you gave everybody in the world a brand new 100 dollar bill, 1/3 would complain that they didnt get 2, 1/3 would complain because it was too crisp and made their wallet hard to fold, and only 1/3 would say "thank you".
I need a louder horn, the guy who about merged into me on the highway today barely took the phone off his head (and did not yield) when I layed on the horn. Currently have the high tone out of a W126 in place of the POS stock Toyota horn, apparently that's not enough anymore.

Take. The. Paint. Pallet. And. Put. It. In. Hardware.
I nearly lost my E36 M3 today on a grown assed man.
