Today is my 19th anniversary. Of course I've been divorced for 6 years and she's on vacation in Spain right now with my money and her new husband.

Sometimes you just have to learn that some things are a waste of time and money.
Case in point. Last night my Phone drowned in the gale we had before fireworks. I left work early today to go to my local sprint store (which is not all that local) to discover that they cannot help me. Since their insurance was outsourced to a company called "asurion" I have to do everything online or over the phone (heh). So, using my work phone I called them up to arrange a replacement.
My phone is old.. a Galaxy S4 Mini. A seldom seen model, but I love it due to it's size. It fits right in my pocket and does not catch on anything. Well, while it is eligible for replacement, it is so out of date that anything they give me is considered an update.. so that is $100 for the deductible plus another $100 or more to "upgrade" my phone... at this point I am half way to a brand new Galaxy S7.. so I said no thankyou.
I went online and bought a nice S4 Mini for a grand total of $60 bucks.. and then went and cancelled the insurance I had on my phone.
I know it is out of date.. but it works well and I prefer the size of it over the new generation of "phablets" I do not need or want to walk around with a 60" teevee in my pocket. I like small and sleek, if I want to do more with it than read news or FB.. I have a real tablet for that..

To me it's common sense and common courtesy, but I guess "It's not my problem" applies.

1/4" drive 10mm sockets should be sold by the six pack, or better yet, in a box like bullets. Some days they seem to be consumed as fast as bullets.

hell, tell them to bring a trashbag and just supply a couple of dumpsters.. the big open 40yard ones.. it will still be expensive, but cheaper than paying people to pick up tons of garbage
The best thing about having a gas powered 1 ton truck is it draws more opinions about how I bought the wrong vehicle than any other ride I've owned, even from strangers. If I had a dollar for every time Ive been told I wasted my money by not buying a diesel I could pay the 10k option charge and all the maintenance costs for the life of the truck.
I need to start a GoFundMe...

Re, cell phones: Amazon has so many really good unlocked phones in the $200 range that it doesn't make sense to get a phone or insurance from the service provider these days, unless you want/need the newest little latest greatest equipment.
My related rant: I wish my wife would take that advice.

I really wish I could get some of the new sonys.. but Sprint's system does not work with them.

Just be aware that every few phones bought this way may be possessed and in need of exorcism- or being returned, which thankfully Amazon makes almost too easy (as a customer I of course LOVE the return policy- as a seller it can be a bit of a pain in the ass).
Actual rants:
Speaking of the above, the replacement phone arrived yesterday. It's currently sitting unused as SWMBO is more than a bit wary of having to deal with it again.
The day after a PT session always SUCKS for my foot/ankle. They unsurprisingly push my pretty hard in the sessions, and it shows- yesterday evening afterward the tendon was REALLY tight, and today my foot and heel are quite sore and uncomfortable to walk on. While it's great that I'm able to now walk on it far more naturally, it just sucks that I'm likely going to have months more before I don't have to at least partially think about how to walk properly and am able to run again (worse, I tend to run barefoot-style up on the balls of my feet and not heel-toe, which of course will be way more fun with my repaired tendon...).

Called it. That's what the doc prescribed today. Only 20mg.
I forgot to eat an actual meal yesterday (just had some snacks and a salad), haven't eaten anything today, and won't get to eat until probably 6:45ish. Hungry is approaching hangry.

You need to invest in some Clif bars and keep them in your (desk, locker, car, bag, whatever). Yeah, they're expensive, but one of those can carry you for quite a while.
So, I'm finally about done with the bills from my surgery (there will still be PT and follow-up visit bills, but those won't be too bad- especially since I'm almost at max Out-Of-Pocket)- and there's just the one that I have a serious problem with left.
I finally get the chance to call them up and argue it- and when I call their Billing Inquiries number I get the following message (paraphrased, admittedly a bit snarkily...), "We're having higher call volume and can't take your call. But you can go online and pay your bill there! Here's the website! And in case you missed it, here it is again! Bye! click"
What's the berking point of a 'Billing Inquiries' number if they don't answer it and just refer you to the website (where you can just pay the bill and not much else)? Other than, of course, to try and keep people from actually being able to inquire about their bills? Grrrrr.

I have done that... it's never pretty

You can lead a horse to water...
Today marks the 3-month mark from my surgery to fix my Achilles' tendon. Were the doctor not on vacation for the week, I would be going in today for an evaluation on the progress of my recovery- and if things went well, finally be able to ditch the walking boot for good. However since he is on vacation all this week, the appointment was pushed to next Monday.
In the last appointment, the doctor explained clearly what the test was as to whether they counted me as being 'fully recovered': I have to be able to do a calf raise using just the injured foot. Simple enough... but I tried doing one this morning when doing my PT exercises- and I can't do it.
I've done the PT exercises I have been given religiously, in many cases going a bit further (doing more reps of 2-footed calf raises than prescribed), and the therapists have been pushing about as hard as they feel comfortable with over the last 2 months of PT- but I just can't do the lift yet. It's possible that I have the strength back in my calf to be able to do it- but when I try it pulls HARD on my tendon (as it needs to) and is quite uncomfortable... and it's possible my body simply won't let me put enough load into it yet out of fear from what happened in the first place. :/
I'm really not sure whether I'll be able to build up either the strength or push through the discomfort/fear by Monday to be able to do the lift. My final PT appointment tomorrow before the appointment Monday is with the head therapist... hopefully he'll have some good advice, because I do NOT want to have to be still wearing the boot when we fly out to Europe for 2 weeks on Tuesday.
Well, let me rephrase that- I will not be wearing the boot when we fly out to Europe. I've spent progressively more time not wearing it and walking in normal shoes- I now don't use it at all at home or when I'm at work (with the blessing of the therapist) and only wear it when outside and away from home/work. I can't walk perfectly yet- and running is something I've not even seriously considered- but I can walk pretty close to normal and am very steady on my feet. I may bring it along so I have it in case I get worn out- but I not be wearing it around consistently, that's for sure.

Excuse me?
I didn't chuck all of tools, millwork/lumber and help hardware did I? And you can't handle one berkeleying pallet?
Bunch of berkeleying cry babies. They're getting iced. See how well you work without us bailing you out each morning, you bastards.
