the one guy at work I keep complaining about.. after becoming a father again two weeks ago (this time with a girl) has gone complete anal cranial inversion. He gets stuff wrong even when written out for him in easily legible printing

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHH

A customer left us a 1 star review because their car isn't fixed after it left and those guys are too incompetent to do any work on cars. (Something to that effect in the review)

The reality is, the customer brought it in for diagnosis then declined repair because he thought it was too expensive.

Well NO E36 M3 the car isn't fixed, you DIDN'T WANT US TO REPAIR IT.

Gets me riled up enough I feel like suing the guy for libel. Or is it slander? I dunno.

(Details deliberately left vague)

IMHO, having a big flag attached to your truck, flapping around & getting dirty is not respectful.

The rebel flag and BUY AMERICAN stickers are the perfect touch as well, for your Fiatruck, I mean Ram.

And I NEVER would have guessed who you planned on voting for.

Thanks for not understanding how 2 turning lanes work, I should have expected you to drift right, into my lane, nearly forcing me into the curb.

This could belong in "working on cars with children" but it's more of a rant. I sent son down to garage to jack up the miata and remove the front wheels in preparation of replacing the ball joints. He moved both floor jacks and two jack stands into the area.

And then jacked up the front of the berkeleying car by the berkeleying radiator!!!!!

The plastic radiator. Well, I guess I wanted to beg a co-drive for this weekends autocross. berkeley me.

There are a couple of those around here.. at least a couple of times a year I need to dive into the shoulder to avoid a sheetmetal contact.. usually with an older driver

So our local illustrious news paper(Indy Star) ran a story pertaining to our recently passed slow poke law(keep right except to pass without the specific wording) Mentioned how 100 tickets and 1500 warnings were issued from 7-1-15 thru 12-31-15 and proceeded to say how foolish of a law it was to only garner those results. What they failed to mention is that ISP also has a lot of work on their hands as motherberkeleyers still don't grasp the concept of not being entitled to the left lane. Last I checked an impeding traffic flow ticket was double that of a 20 over speeding ticket.

I am at my news limit.

  • Dallas
  • Philando Castile
  • Alton Stirling
  • Special treatment for the elite (that's as close as I'm getting to politics)
  • Chelsea Manning
  • Russian Big Brother law
  • Piedmont Park

I'm not a 24 hour news watcher. I don't get constant streams. I don't take crap from my news. I don't need the news to read me opinions from uninvolved Twitter users, or to take calls from cranks. I certainly don't need it to go Hollywood Squares on me so I can enjoy nine pundits screaming at me.

This week just sucked in too many ways, and I'm over my damn limit.

Yeah, it has been a pretty overwhelming week. I at times envy SWMBO who is usually blissfully unaware of most larger goings-on as opposed to me, who hasn't bothered telling the CNN app to not push news alerts to his Pebble.

Honestly I'm looking forward to next week when we'll be setting out on a 2-week cruise where we'll have massively restricted internet access and probably won't be watching any TV- and when we see one when off the ship, it will likely be in a language we can't understand.

When does the whole "everything is food" phase stop with kids? Between dog food, the gravel driveway, and the fresh cut yard, I'm about to just let her chip her teeth since no, slapping her hand, and taking everything out of reach isn't working. If she wouldn't try to eat it, I swear I'd use my dogs training collar on her(on vibrate, not shock, that thing berking hurts).

I thought by 13 months we might have stopped. Of course I thought by the time she figured out how to open the baby gate she'd have figured out the right way to hold a sippy cup or walk without holding onto everything, so I was wrong there too.

People have these things on purpose? And multiples at that? I don't know if they're crazy, stupid, or just immensely patient or masochistic.

At least my beard is no longer being used as a bungee jump on a regular basis.

so.. I got a letter in the mail from my health insurance company that my doctor had not responded to their inquiry for a prescription writ. So I call up my doctor and get one of the office ladies I am friendly with.. seems the insurance company never sent in a request for the prescription..

So now I am out another 10 days worth of pulls out of pocket while she personally faxes them the info so they can mail order my pills to me.

And of course the insurance company cannot override and let the local pharmacy fill it out without a written prescription from my doctor.. which they never bothered to request..

yes, I was rude and hung up on the lady from the insurance company when she told me that.. pushing the disconnect button is not as fun as slamming a phone down

Dear MIL: when you have an opinion on EVERYTHING, it makes it hard for me to take it seriously. I don't know how much you've been watching Zillow and the real estate pages in the newspaper, but I have been checking it multiple times a day for a few months and your husband (my FIL) has been checking it once a week for a few years. With all due respect, the stuff that comes out of your mouth is just not true. And seeing as you A) haven't been house shopping in 20 years, and B) will sadly probably never really come into our house, I don't see how your opinion has much merit.

With that being said, I heard you the first 3 times. You didn't need to say it a 4th, which is when your daughter blew up at you.

Seriously, this is why we can't stand being around her. Always assume you know less than you do. Please.

Since I'm still ruminating on it, I'm continuing my MIL rant.

Get this through your head: Image does not really matter to us. I don't care if the kitchen is dated. Does it work? Good! I don't need granite counters. Do I want them? Of course. Do I need them? NO. There is a reason that we drive a 10 year old car. There is a reason that I shop for everything--including clothes--at Costco and Estate sales. Your husband gets it. He embraces it. We can't afford luxury. We don't need it. We don't especially want it either. I don't know when you became so entitled, and frankly, I don't care that you are. But don't try to impose it on us.

Someone went into my backyard and stole my girlfriend's vintage Univega. We had gone on a bike ride around the neighborhood that evening and parked them, I am usually good about closing my gate but it's not locked. Might have forgotten to close it but I'm skeptical. Woke up to my gate open, her son's bike laying at the gate door, mine behind it with the saddle bag unzipped and her bike gone.

She thinks someone was in the neighborhood and saw/heard us putting the bikes away, the gate and view into the yard isn't easily visible from the street due to a small palm tree. Not sure when they got it but it sucks, someone on your property and taking your stuff. Gate is now locked and bikes are as well. This is considered a "nice" neighborhood but I feel bad for not being more vigilant. Wished they had taken my bike, I wouldn't have felt as bad, hers was way cooler.

Not really. I have a lot of wants. I'm not happy with what I have (or will probably be able to afford). I just realistic about what I can't afford. Oh, and I refuse to be house poor.

What do you mean? Better house? Better neighborhood?

We're trying to find the crappiest houses in the nicest neighborhoods in a specific (expensive) town. Not easy.

We had 2 incomes and bought factoring one. I should have bought in Western Springs or Hinsdale and made my budget a little tighter by being house poor.

Then again it all worked out as it needed to.
