I'll be honest and say this is why I sold my motorcycle. When it was just me and my wife it was my calculated risk to take. Splatted by some cager and oh well - Lisa's an adult and will get over it with time. But now that I have a kid, it's not just my risk to take. I want my kid to grow up with a father and people (other drivers) are too insane to make motorcycle riding safe. I want to watch her grow up too so surviving is more important to me now.

Hence, no more motorcycle. I loved it when I had it.

The image has to be hosted online. Photoucket, Flicker, Imgur etc sites can host the image and give you an address for it. Once you have the address copy it and click on the camera icon above where you type your post and paste the link in the box that pops up. Hope this helps!

Right click the picture if it's online and copy image address, then hit the camera button above the typing window.

Photobucket, imgur, if you need to host the picture somewhere

Liability and hosting costs, as I understand it. Grm hosting the images makes them liable for anything offensive or naughty, plus server space isn't exactly cheap when you look at how many images get posted here.

That's just how it's been explained by others, and makes sense to me.

If I would have known no one from grm was heading to the national match tour in Pittsburgh this pay past weekend, I'd have gone and wrote an article up. Didn't think the car would be done in time to race so I didn't register, just surprised i saw no mention of the Heavy metal showdown here at all. Scca fault though, making nationals the same weekend as the vintage grand prix pretty much ensured a low turnout.

Mortgages are annoying, rather the process of getting one. I don't have one yet, but I have been preping to buy a 3 unit (live in 1 rent out the other 2) house form my old boss.

I got the opportunity to buy a very nice truck from another good friend, and I have the means to do so without stretching too much, but if you've seen my various sale posts trying to drastically thin down the fleet, that's why, I need some space and some cash. But just to make sure withdrawing a chunk of money from my savings to buy this truck wouldn't affect my eligibility for the mortgage I talked to the lady I'm working with on the mortgage and basically I need to wait until I close on the house to withdraw cash and buy my truck to be safe.

Really this is a good thing, because if I wait till after I settle/close on the house I should have the means to pay 100% cash for the truck without taking out another loan, so that's good. Also it's a very good friend of mine selling, and he'll only sell it to me, so it's not going anywhere until then. It'll be waiting for me once I'm done with the mortgage thing. It's just not fun waiting.

P.S.

Yes, I'm 19 and buying a house, and a nice diesel truck. No, I'm not rich. Yes, I have a good full time job. No, I did not go to college. (someday I'll write a good book or blog post about how to do this... haha)

I just don't have enough time to do anything. Falling asleep in meetings at work because of how little sleep I've had - discovered that the Lemons car potentially has a cracked head instead of the bad head gasket that I thought it had, so have been thrashing to get that all fixed and done and rethemed and everything else for this weekend, along with working race setup for the local dirt bike series and watching a friend's house for the month, so maintaining two houses. Woo. And now I have to go to China for work.

In the end though, all the minor rants are the result of my life being pretty decent, since, for example, I have a race car, and I get to see China without paying for it. I just need to get through the next month or so.

"configuration is invalid"?

The configurator doesn't think it is invalid. The "Missing Items" button returns "Configuration is currently satisfied" with a nice green checkmark.

What it is about the configuration that you don't like?

Why won't you just let me submit the damned config to the field rep for pricing approval so we can get a quote to the customer after a month of berkeleying around with this simple upgrade quote!?

Compared to other people in your age-ballpark you sure as hell are, no sense denying it. Lots of people who are a decade or more older than you would love to be in your shoes, both those who have and (especially) those who haven't gone to college.

Congrats, I'm in the process of buying my first house as well right now. We're meeting with the bank tonight to go through and sign the mountain of paperwork they've sent us, then the inspection is tomorrow morning. If I were you, I would definitely take the lady's advice and not do anything to substantially alter your financial standing (i.e. major cash withdrawal or new debt) prior to closing on the loan.

Fortunately I haven't reached that level of tiredness. I have to force myself to go to bed early sometimes even if things need to get done because I drive an hour+ each way to work, and would rather not fall asleep driving.

Like you, while ranting a little life is decent. I have a lot to be thankful for.

I'm doing well for myself, yes. Some might consider me rich, sure. (I don't!) I'm working my way to being able to live well and provide for a family when the time comes. I'm doing what I can to think ahead and make smart decisions, while still having fun. Long term I don't want to work till I die, I'll definitely be working to setup a good retirement. Less long term, I don't want to be working for someone forever. Eventually I will start my own business, perhaps sooner rather then later depends on lots of numbers.

I say I'm not rich because I'm not. I am doing well, probably better than most of the town I live in, but that's a lot because I work more than an hour away where the money is good. People think he's buying a house, he must be rich, not true. I've been saving for my down payment for about a year, but once that's taken care of the 2 rental units will pay for my mortgage + a slight bit extra each month.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, and like I said someday I may have to write a book about it because if more people thought things out before they went into a ton of debt, everyone would benefit. (except the banks and lenders I guess...)

Don't worry, I will be patient and wait till I close. It really won't be that bad as it gives me time to thin out the fleet.

You're still in denial man, I'm trying to show you your misjudgement while you're still young and before you build a whole self-image around it and become "that guy" who says things like "I'm not rich, I saved up 5 years for this new Porsche"...but for the record I've only taken on any debt once in my life, to fix up my Corolla (partially - saved up for many years before that in an attempt to avoid taking on any debt), and it hasn't done any magic for me, so there's more to it than thinking long-term and avoiding debt. I used to think the same way you do now and learned that the hard way. Wealth isn't in the eye of the beholder, it's math.

You say you're doing better than most in your town and yet you've probably only been working for a few years, presumably the whole rest of your town isn't 19 years old...think about that.

Now my rant for the day: noisy eaters.

Probably my single biggest pet peeve is people making excessive amounts of noise when they eat. I'm not talking about crunching on pretzels or the snap of biting through a carrot or something unavoidable like that, I mean the disgusting, saliva-ey chewing/smacking noises of people who can't shut their berkeleying mouths when they chew. It makes my skin crawl and takes every ounce of will power and self control not to send me into a homicidal fit of rage when I have to listen to that kind of E36 M3.

We had a bit of a personnel shuffle in the engineering department a few months back at work which resulted in me ending up in the same office as one of my noisy eater coworkers. As if it wasn't bad enough withstanding the 15-20 minutes at lunchtime, he's been constantly grazing on sunflower seeds all damn week, and I mean CONSTANTLY. If he were not one of my better work friends, I would probably have already laced the seeds with cyanide.

It sucks though because the situation clearly irritates the hell out of me, but I am also well aware that I am probably the one being unreasonable in this particular circumstance, as I am admittedly extremely oversensitive to this particular issue. I wouldn't feel right asking him to change his habits to suit my own pet peeve, so I'm just kind of stuck dealing with it. Headphones and metal are maintaining my sanity.

I think the key here is nebulous definition of "rich".

To me, you're rich, dude. To a typical person living in a third world country, I am fabulously wealthy. To your standard oil baron, they're not sure how you put food on the table, or even how you have a table.
