My left ear us filling up with sinus goo. This is a serious hit for a hearing impaired guy.

Setting the crib on fire in the box on her lawn may do a good job of getting the point across
In reply to Wall-e:
While that certainly would get the point across, not sure how happy my wife would be burning that bridge (or crib, as it were).
Also I'm pretty sure the box is too big to fit in any of our vehicles, so it would also present a bit of a logistical challenge. Probably dragging it 20 miles there behind the car with a rope would also be frowned upon....
So, for some reason Haynes/Chilton decided to not make a repair manual for the Patriot/Compass/Caliber... so I'm having a bitch of a time tracking down the proper torque specs for a few things.
Shopping for health insurance. Looks like we'll be paying $1000/mo. IF that plan actually covers our doctor. Oh lord this whole process is worse than having teeth pulled. The insurance companies aren't helpful, the doctors offices aren't helpful. I miss my old "major medical" plan. I wish they had either left things alone or gone with single payer. Please don't flounder this thread, just respect that I'm having a difficult time with a confusing process made even worse lately.
Went to buy a 1970 Buick Skylark, 350 automatic; $500 obo.
Rented a trailer, drove two hours south and met the guy. Car's a piece of junk, rust everywhere, but the engine purrs. He fired it up and then said he wanted to take some parts off the body. OK, lets talk money.
I want $500.
Ad says $500 OBO, besides, you're taking $100 worth of parts off it.
Well, I was hoping to get 5 or 6 people here at the same time and have sort of a bidding war.
THEN PUT THAT IN YOUR AD !! OK, I'm here, with a trailer and cash.
...but I want $500.
And I want to pay $400.
But I want $500.
I put the tools away, pushed in the trailer ramps and took a breath. Went back to the guy. Last offer, I have four $100 bills on me, what do you want to do?
How about $450?
Miss that part about having four $100 bills?
Well, I want $500.
I'm going home, you're crazy looking for a bidding war; you're looking to get knuckled up.
Well, OK, I can do $400.
Oy.
If they wanted a bidding war, why didn't they put it on ebay? And how are you selling something, but before you sell it, you're changing it? That is ridiculous.
I'll never understand people.
Might have been worth the rental and wasted time to tell Oldsmobile guy to go berkeley himself, just for the reaction.
Or offer him $300. When asked why, reply with, "Because you're jerking me around." Never budge from $300, and make him squirm.
Got a DISI at work with a bad injector. Ring up Mazda dealership, they give us a price quote, we build estimate, call customer, get approval, call dealership, order parts.
"Oh, woops. Those injectors he quoted you are for a Skyactiv engine. You need THESE injectors."
The correct injectors cost more, to us, than we quoted the job for. ARRRRGH. We berking ordered the berking parts with the berking VIN! "Oh, it just said 'injector' so I figured that's what you needed."
AAARRRRRGGGH.
Minor rant: It's become clear to me that I cannot be trusted with sharp objects. Was cutting up excess boxes in the Batcave. Grabbed the razor blade, slice through the packing tape lengthways, slice through one end of tape widthways, slice through the other end... not slicing. Push harder. OW! Okay, I was holding the razor blade upside down. But somehow it cut through two out of three sides just fine?
Fortunately it's just my index finger. It's been so callused and burnt and cut up over the years that I'll never be able to read Braille.
Just give me a price, not a price and then surcharges. I had to take a taxi instead of the subway this morning. The ride was $10, then a night time surcharge, ok it was still overnight I guess. Then a fuel surcharge. It ran on electric half the time so I should only pay half of that. Next comes the improvement surcharge of $.30. Taxis went from nice big Crown Vic's with plenty of head and legroom to a hybrid Camry. I hit my head every time I get in and out and I have to wedge my boots under the partition once I'm in. This is not an improvement. Unless maybe they're collecting it make things better in which case they will need more than 30 friggin cents.
Why do people on bikes ride on the wrong side of a fast moving road?
I see it a lot during the day, but this morning was a guy in the dark. I could only see him thanks to the shadow.

Because you can see the oncoming driver texting, and take the ditch. Better option than having him run up your ass.
In reply to alfadriver:
Because the cyclist would rather be involved in a 60mph head on collision (20mph bike + 40mph car) rather than a 20 mph collision (40mph car -20mph bike)
Kids #2 and #3 have pneumonia, kids #1 and #4 are on preventative vitamins, elderberry gummies, fluids and mucinex just to make sure.
These guys are not cyclists. They are slowly commuting.
The other day, one guy was in the right lane heading toward us- in a 50mph 4 (with center) lane road. A truck had to swerve to get out of his way- he didn't seem to mind, staying well off the side of the road right at us.
There's not a ditch- it's a curb. They will bounce right back out into traffic.
And at that speed- it would take some Spider Sense to actually see a driver doing something in the dark. And at that speed- it's a 45mph hit from behind or a 55 mph hit head on. Dead is dead.
Just got word that my 90 year old, completely alzheimered away Grandmother passed last night. I'm glad I can remember her as she was and not so much as she had become, having your mind eaten away is terrible. At the end she was terrified of everything and everyone, family members became strangers and every moment was strange and unfamiliar for her. Sucks.

I'm sorry for your loss- that's almost exactly where I was this summer when my grandmother passed away. She wasn't nearly as bad as my Grandfather, but was still a shadow of her former self. I felt guilty that I'd pretty much not seen either of them in the few years when they'd really gone down hill, but my Mom said that she was sure they would have preferred it that way so I would be remembering them as they were then I was younger and not where they had ended up.

Well, in that case, it's because they are morons.

Why exactly is a WiFi connected garage door opener a thing? Is it for those times you want to scare the crap out of your neighbor's by opening it up from 3 state's away.
Silly me I thought the only time I needed my garage door open was when I was at least in the same state as my garage.....
