It's fireworks night at the mall. 2.5 hours before the start and people are staking out w/ chairs in the field behind my place. I don't own it but dammit I can't even take a wizz out back while working in the garage tonight.

It's July 4th weekend. All fireworks, all the time is playing hell with my normally mild PTSD. This afternoon my next door neighbor lit off something that I'm pretty sure was just a half stick of dynamite. Everyone on my deck was NOT amused.
The dryer just quit drying. It's only been a year since I replaced the heating element, sigh.
I sent money via PayPal to a guy for a Miata part two weeks ago. Emailed him today to find out where it was, he never got the funds. Apparently I typoed the email address so tomorrow I have to find out where my $115 went. Sigh.
I sold the Miata and the Suburban this weekend. Both for full asking price. Both to friends who knew exactly what they were getting. Now I have to buy another family truckster and resist the urge to buy something stupid.

Thank You, it's been a long weekend but things are looking up. If I understood the cardiologist the main problem was with the clots that likely came with a septis (?) infection and they found the and fixed the blockage while they were in there. She's been on IV antibiotics since and is up and moving well. Like every hospital visit she's had a few complications with her breathing but with a change of meds it seems better. They are discharging her this afternoon and she should be back to work in two-three weeks.

How is it that the only thing that the USPS does well is deliver junk mail?
Both packages that were 'out for delivery' yesterday are now marked as
"We attempted to deliver your item at 4:30 pm on July 3, 2017 in [redacted] and a notice was left."
Nothing resembling notice on my door, porch, or mailbox.
Bonus points for neither package requiring a signature.
How berkeleying hard is it to find a truck in the $5k-$6k range that's at least vaguely as described, runs on the number of cylinders that the engine came with from the factory, has a steering slightly better than a clapped out supertanker on weed and doesn't require me to give the seller a massive "deposit" so he can get the title back from the title loan place?
I really have to remind myself of my inherent cheapness at the moment so I don't accidentally go to a dealer and buy a new or slightly used truck that I'd barely use.
In reply to BoxheadTim:
Every time I've looked at trucks around here I've come away deciding I want nothing to do with them- they just tend to be way overpriced and everyone expects they can get a ridiculous amount for them (because, too frequently, they apparently can...).
People keep offering to buy the chevy truck out of my yard, none of them actually have the money. When i do decide to sell it i have a feeling its going to be a giant headache.

I find this interesting because of a discussion I was having among some friends. Would you mind giving us the details of this traffic stop?

I've had an ongoing feud with the USPS since pretty much the day we moved into our current house. Our regular carrier refuses to deliver any package too large to fit in the mailbox. Whoever handles the route on the weekends will deliver, but I'm pretty much SOL if I need to receive a package via USPS at any time during the week (since Saturday AM is the only time I can make it there to pick the package up.) I've called and complained multiple times and gotten nowhere, they always cite some policy or another that evidently gives their employees a loophole out of doing actually their jobs.
berkeley the USPS, I'll gladly pay the brown truck more for them to actually, you know, DELIVER the package.
And any normally functioning adult human being who has not learned to chew with their berkeleying mouth shut should be forced to eat on all fours from a trough, like the hog they are.

I can only +1 this once?
No sleep the night before + 4th of July idiots + teething baby = No sleep two nights in a row.
Honestly, I don't get the love of amateur fireworks. I like watching professional fireworks, but the local morons that are just making noise and a mess can go berkeley themselves. Especially if they start lighting them off ANYTIME before or after the 4th of July. berkeley you all.

I was on us127 headed through van wert, he turned right behind me after my friend and i cleared the intersection he was waiting for the light at. We turned left into a shell gas station about a mile south of the intersection and he flipped his lights and followed us in.
Pulled behind me and walked up to ask for license and registration. When i asked why he said that the mismatched wheels on my car were suspicious, exspecially with people out celebrating the 4th of july. A second officer pulled in a few minutes later to run my friends information.
We both came back clean so we pumped gas and left with the state troopers trailing us until we turned off 127 6 miles south of town.
He wasnt a dick about it but it was a weird reason for a traffic stop. Maybe he wouldnt have lit us up if we stayed on the road out of town. Maybe pulling into the gas station made him extra suspicious.
A friend had a cop pull up next to him pumping gas the next day and ask him about the wheels on his truck. So apparently its something there worried about in this area.
Drove to Birmingham Ala. from Houston on Thursday last week in a driving rain storm.....folks from Louisiana are the worst drivers.
In reply to dropstep:
Good to see they've cleaned up all other crime in the area so they can devote resources to people with mismatched wheels.
So here's an odd rant.
Why don't car companies just copy each other sometimes?
For the last 8-9 years, the majority of cars I've driven have had some features that have become expectations. Two of which are annoyingly NOT on a rental Toyota I have right now: one touch start and auto lights that turn on with the wipers.
Seems like every time I get into the car, it does not start fast enough, so it barely cranks and does not start. Drives me nuts that they don't have such a simple feature like that.
Apparently facebook marketplace is the new craigslist. Have a few things i tried listing tonight, and already getting 1/4 price offers and wat u bottom dolla messages.
berkeleying mouthbreathers....
I finally get to try the Ridgid warranty. My drill has decided it doesn't want to work properly anymore.
So I went to the website to figure out where to mail my tool. Nope, MUST take it to an authorized service center. Are they in a convenient location near a big, busy city? Nope. All 3 in the area are at least an hour and a half away, in towns with populations under 1,000.
At least one of them is a nice ride in the miata, but 6 hours of driving back and forth plus however long it takes to get it fixed? I'd rather throw it in a flatrate box.

GM SUVs tend to have one touch start. GM pickups tend to not. PCM controls the starter relay. One touch start is in the software for all of them. They all use the same computers and firmware. It's a radio button in HPTuners to enable (or disable) one touch start. The only difference is $60,000 SUV versus $30,000 work truck.
Any time I find myself in a pickup or a "lesser" car, I find myself touching the key and hearing the starter go NGHk because I have been conditioned to just touch the key.
I swear, next time the shop truck is in for service, I will enable one touch start just on general principle.
