My cat with kidney failure is having more trouble keeping food down. It’s only been a week and a half since he got some of the heavier duty indigestion drugs, and he’s been on Pepcid daily for the last 3-4 months. Otherwise, he’s acting normally, but I’m concerned he’s getting bad enough we can’t do more for him at home. Got a vet appointment tomorrow morning to run bloodwork. He can’t stand car rides, so if anything requires regular trips to the vet, I’m not sure it’s going to be a solution for him. He already struggles getting IV fluids from me twice a week.
I feel your grief. Our older cat is going through this too. She's on a supplement, special food, and subcutaneous fluids 2x-3x per week as well. Some sessions are better than others, but overall she's very patient with it. I dread what happens when she gets worse. If our next younger cat ends up needing anything serious, she's not going to survive because we can barely pill her, let alone do something that involves holding her still for 10-15 minutes at a time.
My thoughts are with you - it's a tough battle to fight. You'll know when it is time to stop fighting. He'll show you.

Sorry to hear that, went through this with our cat a while ago. Once we got to regular IV treatments at home, it went downhill quickly. We found an in-home service to help us when it was time to say goodbye.
At some point you just have to enjoy the time that is left and keep them as happy and comfortable as possible. My condolences
Few things suck more than the prospect of losing a pet.
Regarding the in-home service, my parents did the same for their lab last year. He didn't travel well either and vet trips made him especially anxious, so having him at home in a comfortable and familiar environment in his last moments, rather than stressed out and anxious in a strange vets office, was a great comfort to everyone. If that's an option in your area, I would highly recommend it.
Thank you all very much! Today’s trip to the vet went way better than expected. His creatinine levels are actually lower than they were about 3 months ago, but still elevated. It appears he just had a much worse than usual case of indigestion. The vet has cleared me to give him Cerenia more often than I had been. Hoping to keep him around as long as he is comfortable and happy. He’s already acting a lot better today.
I don’t know how much more time he’s got left, but I’m glad he’s feeling better for now.
In reply to Duke :
For your younger cat, have you tried pill pockets? I have to use them for Pepcid and Cerenia for Linus, as there is no way I want to force feed him pills regularly. We’ve used a pill popper in the past, and it works, but he would get nervous every day around the time he needed medicine. Fortunately, he tends to just inhale food, rather than chewing it. This little guy has a hell of a medical history. Heart trouble, kidney trouble, allergic to clay litter, and he’s developed allergies to tons of prescription hypoallergenic foods. Every year or two, it seems we have to change his food up. The crazy thing is, his sister (our other cat) is healthy as a horse, and just in the last year (at over 13 years old) has started having very mild heart issues.
I am getting nothing done. Someone has been posting lots of pictures on Facebook from area racetracks their in the 70s and 80s so I spend a bunch of time looking at them and talking to people I haven’t heard from since I was a kid. I am also buying a t shirt or two a week from area racers or of drivers I used to follow. I do not need more shirts.
Total shoulder joint replacement scheduled in three weeks. Just had a knee done at the end of October.
On the upside, I’ll have my max out of pocket made pretty early in the year.
Prior to yesterday morning my Summer/Trackday wheelset for the Evo was pristine.
Then my dumb ass scraped 90 degrees of the front right across a curb.
Aaaaand they're discontinued.
Post deleted and edited.
I've been awake for the past two and a half hours and right now I am happy that the bathtub/shower is immediately across from the toilet, but I'm less than thrilled that there is a nonremovable hair trap in the shower's drain.
There, that's the sanitized version.
I'm wide awake and I have to be up in 3 hours to drive.
Then some jerk decided to park a rolling parking lot next to me. I see this out the window.
So now my brain is working on BMW builds and my chance of sleep is 3 to 5 percent.
Workers are doing something in the basement which management required me to unlock my storage cages. When they arrived I went down to move some stuff for them so they know I'm just upstairs.
Now this is the part that will offend but I've got all my tools down there including the XT Earthquake and this just reminds me of the situation at the storage garage I used to keep them in.
The first few weeks at that storage garage someone broke into multiple garages and stole a ton of pricey E36 M3 from old guys like me who could afford to lose their treasures but obviously didn't want to . I probably got missed because I was new and they must only have seen the front of the Focus on the occasions I was there and had it open.
Turned out it was the workers doing repairs in the small condos the garages belonged to.
It's plumbing/insulation work by the looks of it so I can't get in to keep an eye out. They know I'm here though.
On a broader point this is what keeps me from buying a piece of rural property I'd visit once a month to build a garage/workshop on.
Horror stories about meth and opiods reminds me of a heroin junkie on British tv admitting to thousands of burgalries.
So feel free to be offended.
ah E36 M3 as I expected they have an Asbestos sign on the plastic doorway they put up so no checking in even though I have no inordinate fear of asbestos.
In reply to Bent-Valve :
i drove past an abandoned very rough looking one just like that yesterday. Not the greatest part of town. Well actually one of the worst. I completely forgot to remember the location and it's a warren down there not a classic grid system at all.
Spoke to soon about my cat doing better. He’s thrown up twice so far today. I’m beginning to wonder if this is just a case off him developing another food sensitivity. His current food is mostly peas and rabbit. Peas tend to be a filler in a lot of special cat diets, because cats tend not to have problems with them. Going to be hard to find something without that or any of the other fillers he’s allergic to. May be time to start making cat food at home.
Takes a deep breath

Everything is phlegm and coughing and pain.
I need someone to come and kill me since I don't have the energy to do it myself
Went to pick up the check from the soon to be gone day job.
I used to pay $291 a month to park in the basement garage. Was just about worth it.
Moved to part-time. $21 all day twice a week. Depending on that days tips it was just about worth it.
Picking up the check usually costs me $11 going to the bank and phaffing around for a few minutes. Ok.
Talk for maybe 5 minutes longer than usual today. $21.
Apparently it's $11 for one hour then after that the all day rate no matter if you're there for twelve hours.
I had paid at exactly one hour and one minute. berkeley.

I hear you.
Taking fluids a couple sips at a time because my entire everything is raw and I'm sick of throwing up. I pulled a muscle in my ab. (I used to have abs, now I just have ab.)
I should probably get up and get another sip of something, but my joints say no.

I don't know if I'm not using the right type of prying tool or if I'm just humorously bad at this, but despite prying in the same place in the same direction as the helpful video shows, I've managed to break the mounting clips on two of the door lock actuators. Giving up on that project for now...
Both of my jacks broke within an hour of each other. Goddammit all I want to do is change my wheel cylinders and bleed my brakes. Should take an hour tops.
Now I get to spend more money I don't have buying yet another jack.
Just caught my watch on the underside of a cupboard and ejected one of the pins that holds the band on into Never-Never Land. This will take at least an hour and $10 to fix.
I've worked about 65 hours and counting this week and I don't know that I've ever spent so much time so unproductively.
I've got two major projects launching simultaneously, so even under the best of circumstances this would have been a busy week, but instead it's been a case study in Murphey's law - just once issue after another and lots of time spent just waiting on E36 M3 to get fixed. Sad part is how much of it could have been prevented if people could be counted on to just do their berkeleying jobs. If you know your machine is having an issue, how about you raise the flag before it becomes an absolute crisis? Or maybe if the recently fired former maintenance supervisor gave half as much a E36 M3 about PMing the machines as he did about changing light bulbs and checking fire extinguishers it wouldn't have broken in the first place.
The thing that really ticks me off is the tooling vendor. Not only did they deliver two weeks late, they berkeleyed up about half the items in ways which are completely inexcusable. Components that should match to within 0.001" were off as much as 0.015", another dimension I was asked to verify not once but twice still ended up way wrong, another component ended up at twice the angle it should have been...the list goes on. Nasty gram has been sent and I'm damn sure withholding payment until this is resolved to my satisfaction.
knew it. just berkeleying knew it. battered the E36 M3 out of my cordless led light they took upon themselves to use when removing the asbestos pipes. Also the orange extension cord I noticed they ran to another unit for power because there was no outlet in the basement. Yep. That was mine. Can't find it either. Too berkeleying dumb to take the holder for it otherwise I wouldn't have noticed for a few days. Moved E36 M3 from shelf to shelf presumably because they were just knocking E36 M3 over and loosened the shelving unit too. Dumped some ratty old piece of furniture on top of the boxes that I removed for them to give them room. Typical. berkeleying typical. The XT is still there as does most of the stuff so they didn't push their luck but berkeley me what morals do you have that if something isn't screwed down it's yours to do with as you please. berkeley heads.
Wheel cylinder failure on the MGB. Seized rear caliper on the 626. Those were my two functional cars.
I can't tell if my stomach is burning because it's still raw or just because I haven't eaten anything since Thursday.
Can drink some liquids now, which is nice. Going to try some low sodium beef broth and toast in a bit.
Magpul is on my serious E36 M3 list.
I ordered ~300-400$ worth of mags with overnight shipping to out here in California. Get a email today that my order was not shipped and not going to now that the stay is in place never going to happen. They took my money just fine though on Tuesday I think. So now everybody who competes has 30 round mags out here in California and I get a E36 M3ty T Shirt if I buy even more from them in the future. F You Magpul. Even Brownells is shipping mags out that were ordered before. I paid full MRSP on a few 10 packs just to get it dropped.
Also I am being sued again. Got to love California and uninsured motorists. Won't go anywhere but they tried and failed to send a server to my office and ended up catching me at home. Attorney is already on it but I could punch someone right now. Will not go anywhere I know but man does it suck to have to deal with.
