I got turned into "that guy" today. The Rite Aid Pharmacy that does my persciptions is situated on a corner where you can only turn right no matter which exit you choose. The Jersey barriers in the intersection simply restrict which way you can go.
So I am waiting to pull out in my Disco. There is one car at the light and a lady pulling up. As soon as she cleared far enough for me to pull out, I did. There were more cars coming and I did not want to wait for a second light rotation to get out. She stopped right after I pulled out, leaving almost three car lengths between her and the car at the light.. blocking me from straighting out. This left me blocking both the lane I wanted to get into and the right turning lane that more than a few people wanted to use.
A few honks from me and she didn't even flinch.. meanwhile people are backing up in the turning lane and honking at me to voice their displeasure. Because I drove the Rover instead of the Fiat, nobody can tell that I am being blocked by a lady in a small car with plenty of space in front of her. Thanks!
There won’t be a fourth season of Santa Clarita Diet.
I’m selling my T.V.’s cheap now that they’re rendered pretty much useless.
Ahh, micromanagement.
"Hi! We don't really have an idea WTF you do, but we're damn sure we can improve the process and make you MORE efficient."
As far as I can tell, that entails tasking us with their work and then being criticized when an emergency happens and we miss 1 of a 1000 tiny details.

WTF... that really sucks. The Dancer will be quite upset as well, we both really enjoyed the show (and they certainly left things on a cliffhanger at the end of the last season).

I know right.
I binge watched season three in one sitting…had I known there’d be no more, I would have saved the episodes in a freezer in a storage unit so nothing would go to waste.

It took us a few evenings to get through, but we also blew through it like a bag of baby teeth. It's sad to see it canceled, it was smart, funny, and delightfully dark. They clearly had more places to go with it, and it seemed like (and from the article I read about the cancellation I'd say it's true that) the actors all got along well and had fun doing the show.
My truck continues to kick me in the balls.
Since i had the cowl panel off for a fresh coat of paint, i decided to take care of the squeaky wiper linkage.
Yup.
Broke the studs clean off the drivers side transmission. So, predrill for a self tapping screw! Snapped them both off.
You know why chevy trucks have a bow tie? So they look dressed up while they kick your butt trying to fix them.
Well since he's never home to hear the berkeleying bird, I put a sign up at the end of my driveway stating that "all of my chickens are female, please address all future rooster complaints to *house number*"
I made the mistake of checking the chicken forum about what to do. See a thread called "my neighbor is complaining about my rooster". I have to say, I'd probably be in prison for a long time if any of the responders were my neighbors. "buy the neighbor some ear muffs to sleep in so he doesn't hear it all night" "you're allowed to have chickens, get more roosters so when he complains more and you thin the herd to one you still have one" "get the complaining neighbor who isn't sleeping because of your noisy "pet" a white noise machine so he doesn't have to listen to it" "Suggest they move out of the neighborhood".
I need to blow off some steam somehow.
Having to get a title notarized to sell a car is such a stupid thing. Because NC is stupid and requires it. BoxheadTim has to send the title back to me to get notarized. The last 2 cars I sold private party didnt have to be notarized cause they went to VA and SC which all just need a bill of sale.
It's tough to see some people use the handicapped spots.
Especially a guy in a VERY (at least a foot) lifted truck, and see him jump out with no issues. What kind of mobility issues means you needed that spot, dude? Because I'm sure it takes a LOT more effort to climb up into that thing than it does to walk 50 extra feet on the surface level.
Yea, I know that many mobility problems one can't see- I get that. But the ones you can't see almost always means that you can't actually climb up into a foot lifted pick up that doesn't have an extra step to help you up.
So curious minds want to know what's your problem, or are you just another POS.

My grandfather was still driving at ~90, and was a veteran of WWII. He had a handicapped tag provided by the VA; he still used to park way out in the middle of the lot, just ot get some exercise.
But that was his generation. And he always drove a Grand Marquis.

My wife can still get in and out of a truck fairly well but since the stroke often feels intense nerve pain walking more than 20-30 yards. On a good day she’d just look lazy as she headed from the car to the store.
In reply to Wally :
I understand that. But a lifted truck? One that is a good foot higher than it normally is? Is she really capable of climbing in and out of that without major pain?
The step to just get in and out is close to waist height now- there's no extra ladder steps. Do you really think she could do that? That's the indicator that I don't see as realistic.

Yeah, that surprised me a bunch, too. Normally the WV is super relaxed but in this case it was “well, NC requirement, sorry, come back with a notarised title”.

I don’t know what his issue is but I know from what has happened to us and how often the topic comes up in her TBI group that it’s tiring to hear from people that feel qualified to tell you how disabled you are or aren’t.

I usually write it off as a mental handicap. I see it way too often and it bothers me every time.
My dad was basically on a walking life-support machine for the last 10 years. Never got a sticker/tag. Or gave up trap shooting.
IIn reply to Wally :
I do understand that. And if it were a lowered truck, that didn’t take any special agility to get in and out of, I would not question it.
Its just that it would be very hard for me to get in, and other than being a little overweight, I have no issues.
It would at least be interesting to know what qualifies him to have it, given the ease he has getting in and out of that beast. I saw it this morning, and he just jumped out.

Let me paraphrase what Wally was trying to say: because his disability isn't berkeleying physical, but that doesn't mean he can't qualify for a berkeleying disabled tag. It isn't your berkeleying job to judge whether people are disabled enough to use the tag. Stop being an shiny happy person, you're making people who are disabled feel that they can't use their tags for fear of being judged. Why is it your problem if the guy is or isn't disabled? Did they take a spot that you wanted? No? STFU.
Sorry, this pisses me off. Sure there are people who abuse the tags and people who should have them that don't use them and vise versa, but at the end of the day it isn't OUR job to police them. Just let people live their lives, ok?
Nice to know we have the minor rant police here. I was not aware that I’m suppose to pick out what bugs me or not. Thanks for that help.
Most of the time what I see is somebody parking in a HC spot, leaving their HC spouse/SO in the car, and then briskly walking into the store. Usually a home improvement store or Sam's. No, it's not taking my spot. Nor is it my job to police them. But it is a problem for people I know (Lupus, colon cancer, etc.) They would need the spot if they were me.
Maybe Kansas is just full of shiny happy people. Me included.

So now mental disabilities qualify for disabled parking?
I know daily driving a lifted truck is dumb, but I didn't know it meant you were disabled enough to get special parking.
Feels like I am never going to find a rallycross car. The Lexus was too much money, I was going to look at a yaris but it was on a test drive when I called about it and the person bought it. It's a crap shoot for decent rwd cars. I hate dealing with craigslist and Facebook marketplace because NC makes it a massive pain to get a title transferred.

I have a cheap 09 outback and an nc notary.....
Awd is boring. And I want at least a hatchback if not a sedan. Plus you are 4 hours away.

Cant blame a guy for trying!
