Yes, I discovered my Tractor Supply has the best battery prices by far.

Walmart has been beating everyone else around here. No Rural Kings up here, we do have Tractor Supply.

I realized the thing I felt most was relief, it had worn on me for years to where I wasn't interested in much except work and that's not healthy. So, vacation then looking for something new!
I got laid off 15 years ago this month. My wife cried but I was relieved. It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened in my career. So, congratulations on starting the next chapter of your career.

Same thing here, just over 11 years ago, and with the exact same results. I don't want to think about what might have happened if they hadn't done me a favor by showing me the door.

Thanks all, definitely a favor. As part of the severence they honored all of the bonus money I had "stored up" and so I really am covered for about 2 years. It's really a satisfying feeling.
Good gaming session yesterday. Presented an ethical dilemma that my players agonized over for over an hour.
Managed to introduce a semi-humorous side character based on the Warren Zevon song "Lawyers, Guns, and Money". He will return, and he will bring shenanigans with him. (The game is set in a fantastic version of 1930's Venice.)

Sounds like you have a 2 year Vacation to plan

Sounds like you can start retirement 2 years earlier then instead!
I hope your future gig brings you up this way sometimes, too
New Ethiopian fusion place opened two blocks from the house so I biked over after lunch to check it out. Been waiting for it to open and was not disappointed. I've made it my personal mission to promote new businesses in our little city. Gotta try the new Afghan place next, I love a good kebab.
I've been driving for 31 years, never hit a deer, many many close calls but never hit one. Well that streak ended tonight. Why the win? I hit it just when I made a turn and was going to make another turn in a couple hundred feet so I was going slow. The big doe was stunned but after a few seconds she pulled it together and ran off. I literally can't find a scratch on my car. Pulled it into the garage looked behind the bumper I can't find a thing wrong. Me and Bambi dodged one.
Just closed on the new house this afternoon and the new job seems pretty awesome so far.
I get to work with the A&P techs but my position deals more with the comm gear and electronics on the aircraft. I still need to know how to do engine runs and aircraft tows. I've never worked anything close to aircraft so this will be a new experience. I'm excited to learn this world.
Minor win #1- I officially acknowledge that this weight loss might stick. I cleaned out all my fat clothes.
(Minor rant, I gotta buy all new E36 M3. This sucks)
Minor win #2- swmbo has a wider shape than me and thusly, her new also significantly smaller frame happens to fit my old pants, and shorts. She is ALSO looking for new pants. She just inherited about a dozen pairs of volcoms finest hybrid shorts (at about $75 a pair) that were way too big for me, happen to be a style and color they don't make in women's, and happen to be something we spent all day earlier today looking for.
(Minor rant, she doesn't like the camo ones. That was my favorite pair and they retired that pattern. Again. I can't get new ones in my smaller size. )
Wife and I had a great weekend. Got past a bunch of small but stressful work uncertainty and medical stuff. Freed up mental energy for fun.
Went rock climbing both Saturday and Sunday at two local gyms. The company set special bouldering "Partner Routes" for Valentine's day. Set up to force you to be creative and work together, alternating using each other for holds. Those were silly, challenging, and a lot of fun.
Got a nice snow Friday and then sunny weather.
Just everything was a bunch of small little good things. Got my wife into watching Avatar the Last Airbender and got through season 1. Great episode of The Bear. Making progress rehabbing some weak muscles that have been holding back my ability to squat heavy. Date night last night, and we'd both put together fun new outfits that we unveiled for each other.
The weather is fine and my chores were done so I zipped out the back window of the Spitfire and went for a spin in the country with Minnie.
Wife and I are trying to eat healthier. Today, I made a roasted zucchini recipe I saw online. It was excellent, definitely need to write it down for future use.
Not so much a win for me, but a win for my cat Mike. He "killed" a toy mouse and is very proud as he carries it around the house meowing in joy at his triumph.
Tax return season. Which for me usually means finding new ways to spend all my money after giving Uncle Sam an interest free loan for a year. This year, it coincides with a sale on kid tickets for the mouse park. So we're on Ball road, tucking kids in to sleep and going to enjoy silence for a few hours before spending the next couple days spending. The win is that while I complain, I really enjoy the place, and we're doing family time. We'll get dinner at one of my favorite places (The Bengal BBQ), possibly twice, and this time we opted for the hopper passes and the kids have never been in the other park.

My daughter is 21 YO and constantly talks about wanting hers off when she was 4 YO. I told her if they come off they are not going back on and she learned to ride a 2-wheeler that day. That event left a big impression on her.

Post it up here, too, would ya? My wife has been askin around for more healthy recipes.

This is it: Roasted Zucchini. Rather than make the Italian seasoning in the recipe, I just used about 1/4 teaspoon of oregano, and a pinch of basil and a pinch of thyme. Also, based on the size of the zucchinis they used (3 to make a pound), I realized the one I had was much larger, so I cut it into quarter circles instead of half circles. I made some thin spaghetti, tossed it with some olive oil, sprinkled on just a tiny bit of parmesan, and squeezed a lemon wedge out over each serving. Could have just used lemon juice, though.
