How often does this happen to you guys? You sold a car years ago and something reminds you of it and you are missing it for awhile then find yourself trying to find one to replace it?
I don't know why but here recently I have been missing my old black Corolla GTS coupe. I never had the damn thing running on more than 3 cylinders and ended up having to sell it because I was losing my storage space just after I started to tear into the engine. For some reason I find myself missing the car and wanting to find another. The really sad thing is I only paid a few hundred for it when I bought it and had no idea of the cult following it had until some of you guys on here told me about the car.
Here is one of the few pictures I actually have of it.
My '65 Chevelle Malibu 4-Door. 283 with a Powerglide. I listened to people that told me to get rid of it because the previous owner snapped the retainer bolt for the spider gear pin. I was told that it would be too hard to find another axle or too expensive, etc. I made the mistake of listening. Within the next year and a half, there were 3 or 4 companies making reproduction sheet metal and parts for '65s.
I look on the net all the time. I find good examples, but people still want almost $10k for them.
I want to find one and redo it into a "phantom model" an 4-Door SS with a hopped up 283 and a 4-speed with Posi out back.

Pretty much how I've ended up with a TR4 shell in the garage and boxes of parts all over the house - my first sports car was a TR4 - moved to Chicago and no room to bring it. Always regretted having to ditch it...

You know I think that there is one of those rolling around this town.
I've actually been kinda stalking oldtin..I miss my 2nd gen Honda Prelude, and he's got one. Hope I have some cash in hand when he gets tired of it.
My 83:
His 86 (and it's even an Si, IIRC!):
He says he's not letting it go..but he does have that TR-4 project.

My Stealth RT/TT. Man I miss it. It was such a great car, but the prospect of owning one that's now 20 years old and has been cheap enough to be in the hands of kids and hacks for too long - well, I shudder to think of all the things that could go wrong.
To do it right, one would basically tear it down to eliminate all the silly active aero, electronically adjustable exhaust, electronically adjustable suspension, four-wheel steering and other ridiculously complex what-have-yous. But all that stuff is sort of what made it so whiz-bang awesome. (Of course, losing a few hundred pounds would certainly do it some good, too.)
But man, was that a helluva car. Unfortunately, it's probably best if it remains in the past tense.
i'd love to find another 78 Cordoba just like the one i had in the summer of 91.. it was green with a luxurious green Corinthian leather interior- except it had red doors on it with red door panels, so it was like riding around in a 4000 pound watermelon that got 8 miles per gallon, floated like a luxury cruise liner, and smoked off the right rear tire like nobody's business..

Hey, FGC, you're mixing-up the "old" guys on the board - oldtin vs oldsaw.
That Si is mine and I forsake the Brit stuff in '74, after selling my Sprite and that Europa that broke on a test drive. Closest I ever came to owning a TR was lusting for a GT6 (at the same time) that was sitting at a used car lot. Right up until the hood was lifted and all the scorched paint from a carb fire was seen.

Whew - thought I'd acquired one I didn't remember. My brit stuff has been de-Lucased - they might have a chance.

You'll see them around. The '65 looks similar to the '64, but the grille is different. Usually when I find a 4-door on the net, its a 300, not a Malibu.

Hey, I "get it" every time I drive that car and I've had it for eleven years.
I listened to all the old timers around here who "sure do miss that old car" and I've kept mine.
It's not anything super special, If anything it's the red headed step child of the camaro world. And then there's that whole mullet thing. Aside from the tint, paint and wheels, it's all stock. 170k, dead nuts reliable, and I knew if I ever let it go I would regret it. It's been doing mostly sitting for the past 5 years, and it's really taken it's toll. I've got plans for it. But what third gen owner doesn't?
Obligatory burnout pitcher.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a .38 special cassette waiting for me.
Its strange, but I miss my 86 Firebird S/E. It was 305 ci of t-top badassery. The car didnt perform too great, but pound for pound I beleive that I loved it the most. It was sold when I was 17 and at work. I had the car for sale in auto-trader and some guy came by late at night and handed my dad the cash. I never even got to say good-bye..

3rd gens rock. My mom had one. So did SWMBO, if I find a good job, I'm sure I'll have a story like BBsGarage one day.

Almost never. I get bored with anything, no matter how wonderful it was, or I remember it being. With time, I simply want to try something different.
That is why I tracked down my old Capri and bought it back!
Had a '64 Fairlane Sport Coupe as a kid, that's one I wish I'd never let go
I know it went to the crusher in the sky for good reasons, IE- tinworm disease, but I would love to have my 80 Fairmont Futura back. And then there is the 89 Mustang LX 5.0 with the crushed quarter I traded a Vortech R-trim and MSD Digital 6 box for, straight up.....
In reply to BoostedBrandon:
Did the 10bolt break after the BO? And is that a RS or a Z? The only thing that truly sucked about those cars was the350/auto's had a 4500rpm WOT upshift....
I still have my first car. As a matter of fact, I'm probably going to cut it up to use as patch panels in my Jeep and to repair the wheel arch rust in another Accord.
I do miss my Nissan pickup, though. It was my first real vehicle, as in one that I drove on the street. It died in a fight with a Ford Taurus.
In reply to BoostedBrandon:
Is that a 1992 with Heritage stripes?
I miss my first car sometimes, as unremarkable as it was
Of all my vehicles I miss my 94 Chevy van the most. But I figure I may get another one of those, this time with the longer wheelbase and a 350.

Having been intimately associated with an '80 Fairmont Futura (it was girlfriend>fiancee>wife's car), your statement above is living proof that there is an ass for every seat. I could not wait to distance myself from that uncomfortable, underachieving POS as soon as I possibly could. Traded it in on a new 1992 base Caravan with no options, and felt like I had stepped WAY UP in the world.
In reply to Ranger50:
Nope, I've done many burnouts and not once has it quit. The car has a junkyard rear end in it, I know because it says "Camero" on it in paint marker.
It's a 92 RS, 305 auto. It's a turd, but it's mine. I walk by it every day, and proceed to bench build it in my head.
