You heard very wrongly then, some are, some aren't. Exposed hammer handguns are usually more susceptible to the drop firing, but I witnessed a Springfield XD(semi auto) fire after falling off a night stand in its holster...

I had a patient once who carried a Taurus Judge in the pocket of his coveralls (because snakes). He was putting them on one day and the gun slipped out and fired on impact. Sprayed his legs and lower torso pretty good from the .410 birdshot.

Fun fact of the day: usually when you are hit with birdshot we don't pick the pellets out. Antibiotics and let them heal in place. Makes future X-rays look more interesting

Yea, I think almost all revolvers can have that happen, my single action hoglegs won't, but that's due to me always carrying them mid cycle instead of having the firing pin resting on a primer....
