So I got a great deal on a laptop, or so I thought. TSA drops it, toshiba fixes it by replacing the motherboard, cool alls well for a few weeks, then it starts randomly shutting off, not shutting down but off. Sooooo I send it off to be repaired yet again comes back and immediatly has the same problem. Needless to say I'm ticked off and want a replacement, customer relations says tough cookies, I go a head and get ready to send it back again for repair. Well something told me to find a way to escelate this beyond the customer relations a-head. I call corporate and leave a message, not 24 hours later I get a call and they are going to give me a new computer and an upgrade for all the hassle. So my new computer is on the way and I'm happy. /rant

Funny how it becomes Toshiba's problem that some ham-fisted TSA goon dropped and damaged your property. Is that what they mean when they say freedom isn't free?

Sounds like it will all work out in the end.

Well TSAs policy is they pay for repairs, so since repairs were free they pay squat. I wanted blood but I'll take a new computer, and it had problems right out of the box, just worsened by the TSA.

I've had too many bad experiences with Toshibas lately...My A40-S270 is like an 80s GM sedan. Big, inefficient (P4 Prescott CPU - hottest-running power-guzzlin'est mainstream CPU ever made), slow, poor build quality. The hard drive is especially slow. It's been in for repairs twice so far and needs more. I might just pick up a netbook - all I use it for is surfing the web in front of the TV anyways.

Its amazing what a phone call to upper management will do in terms of customer relations.

Yeah I've had a toshiba laptop before it was a pile, and against my better judgement I bought another one. It's HP and desktops from now on, someone here hold me to that.

Uh you did hear about HPs recent (again) recall on laptop batteries that burst into flames right?

Most laptops can have issues depending on the manufacture. My Dell is a POS that won't even recognize its factory battery anymore. Found someone to buy it for $150 (family friend giving it to him for a good price). Have a new Toshiba on the way though it has an AMD Turion dual core proc in it not the usual Intel stuff.

Funny thing is my Acer Aspire 1 netbook has given me the least grief of all my laptops.

I still used an old p3 toshiba.. an 1805. Thing is a literal brick.. but at least it is built like one and has been all over this country with only one hitch.. it did need a new HD and a battery after 5 years of use.

the newer ones are junk
