Today on the interstate I saw a car that I have never seen before. I can't find any pictures that look similar and I didn't get a name.
It looked all the world like the Chinese got ahold of a Honda Element. It was much bigger. Taller from the beltline up, wider body, wider track, the front end was very similar to an element, just more like a Chinese interpretation of one.
Any guesses?
That would be my guess. They are as ugly as homemade sin.
Sure matches the description. Wow that's horrible.
I'm the only one here who wants a Panther-chassis Element?
I've only seen one in the wild and instantly assumed "MV" stood for "Most Vomitous".
That was going to be my guess too. I wasn't sure what they're called, but we just refer to them as New Haven Taxis.

MV-1?
Yes that's it, even the same color!
I've never heard of one before.
MV=Mobility Vehicle.
Wheelchair lift minivans involve a lot of unibody surgery. The MV-1 takes what looks like a heapin' helping of Ford truck parts bin and a purpose built chassis to create a solid foundation for a lift or ramp. I hear that Roush did a lot of the development.
From the Pedia of Wikis: the chassis is a design from Roush unique to the Mobile Vomit 1, and the motive force is provided by a Ferd 4.6L mod motor in the same spec as found in their van lineup. All in the name of handi-capability. The only ground up Taxi design approved for New York ' s yellow cabs.
Edit- Mike's a faster dork than I am a a reader...

That thing looks like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
Based on the title, my answer is Bob.
That's a reasonable name for a car.

The local Caddy dealer here in RI sells them.
It's the latest version of "ugliest vehicle in the world." I don't get it. Good styling doesn't cost any more than bad styling. Why would AM General do something like that?
I think some of the styling is the way it is because they used a lot of parts bin pieces. The tail lights look like they came from an FJ Cruiser and I think most of the glass comes from other places if I remember right. For their purpose they are good little vehicles. For a long time the para transit fleets here were mostly cutaway buses which were a waste most of the time since they generally carry one or two people but they were needed to carry multiple wheelchairs reliably. The MVs are a smaller, less expensive to run vehicle and since they use a ramp instead of a lift to load the customer you don't have to worry about the lift breaking down and stranding the customer. I hope they do well since they are a well thought out piece and most of the drivers I've spoken to seem happy with them.
To add to this thread; I saw a truckload of some tiny Ford sport/utility in white with black striping (test car style). They were NOT attractive, any ideas what Ford has coming to market for 2016/2017?

cars, CUVs, SUVs, Trucks, and vans.
(it's not supposed to look good. Not even supposed to look correct)
As long as it stays a cab I have no issues, when people start buying them for non commercial use then I will have an issue.
Looks like an element caught a case of the mumps.

Huh? You don't want your new cars to look good or correct? After some googling I think they were EcoSport (s).

You're talking about black and white markings like this, right?
I'm talking about the truck, I see that he thought I was saying the stripes look ugly. No, the trucklet is ugly.
And yes, they were all striped like that.
Isn't the Mobile Vomit the vehicle of choice in the new Vacation movie? I believe Rusty does a great Vin Diesel impersonation with it
my wife's company has one to transport people in wheelchairs. it's been in for service more than it's been on the road. the only really solid part seems to be the 4.6 drivetrain. they're talking about offing it and i don't think it's hit 30k yet.
they are definitely a function over form vehicle, and are made for a very specific, very necessary purpose.
