We have managed to not destroy the city in protest over the Slager mistrial. Apparently the Today Show needed a little extra for their reporting. When in doubt, make it look convincing...just don't get caught.

They even have their own helpful video about how to avoid fake news.
Though I expected it to just read: "Pay no attention to NBC"

My wife was super angry about that. Love the whited out sign, so you can't read what it's about. Someone thoughtfully lied here.
I stopped watching main stream media after a particular event in early November. They all are ... well I'd better not get started. Bottom line is I feel a whole lot better every day by not watching their crap.
I only get my news from breitbart, zerohedge, newsmax and the daily caller. Cause when they make mistakes ya can't tell it from the actual fake news. It makes me feel good.
Come on people. They screwed up. Stop holding up the media like they are infallible. They're people. Jeeeezzzzzzz. Somebody thought this was a good idea. It wasn't. Let's move on.

I agree with you, but this was a blatant misrepresentation. It wasn't a mistake.
NBC is one of the worst, they've been caught now multiple times "altering" the news to support their "side" of a story. I worked in TV for years and knew a lot of people there. Locally most were pretty decent, but the higher you went up the food chain the wackier they became.
I've abandoned many of the US sources and go overseas for news. It's shocking and sad how much better the reporting is on US issues. I maintain we'd be a much better country is the news actually just reported the news and people decided for themselves what they thought about it. I'm sick of the propaganda.
The media doesn't get to be up in arms about "fake news" like Pizzagate when outright lies from what should be reputable, mainstream media are what fuel the rise of distinctly less reputable news sources.

We expect some integrity from ABC, NBC, etc. NBC and it's offshoots have a long history of misrepresenting or flat out altering things to fit their narrative. There is no "Mistakes happen" pass for them anymore.
Besides, I get my news from Mother Jones, the only unbiased news left.
In all seriousness, for a guy that wants the actual fact of things, in small and easily understood words, with the least amount of propaganda or spin, where should i go?
The mainstream media has remdered itself as irrelevant. Their stories condeming 'fake' news are hillarious.

I feel the exact same way. At this point though I'm afraid I still wouldn't believe it even if I witnessed it myself.
In reply to Dusterbd13:
Unfortunately, there isn't a truly unbiased source. Probably will never be again. Every news outlet is biased in some manner. I suppose you could listen to both sides as much as you can stand, and then determine what the truth is somewhere in the middle of the spinning.
CBC does a pretty good job from what I can tell. Proximity to CBC is one of the good things about Detroit.
I'll probably catch some heat for this, but I get the majority of my news from Russia Today America. I figure any news source politicians will completely ignore or harass must be spitting out something closer to truth than something they fawn over. They also have Larry King, which may or may not help their credibility.
Democracy Now is another fair-ish source that covers a lot of important things the mainstream flat out ignores, or spins.
The "lame stream media's" current attack of citizen journalism is hilarious. The jig is up, who believes the 5 mega corporations that run the propaganda game in our country are credible sources anymore? These five conglomerates are Time Warner, Disney, Murdochs' News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (formerly CBS). They own and run 90% of what we call the media. It didn't used to be this way. If you want to find some real journalism you have to look elsewhere. James Corbett of The Corbett Report is one of my favorite journalist currently.
In 1993 NBC Dateline rigged the gas tank explosion in GM trucks. That's when it started.... wellm that is the first time they got CAUGHT. Then there was the Trump edits, the OBama coverups, the Brian Williams helicopter story.... I mean, they're not exactly the example of honesty and integrity here.

Now that's a combination I don't know that I've heard of before.
I'm not a big fan of RT, just because they are basically state-owned by one of the most corrupt governments out there. They are useful to get an outsider persepective on international events that don't really involve the American or Russian government or military....getting to be fewer and fewer of those events, though.
Democracy Now is one I haven't listened to for a while. They're like my super-opinionated friend who I regularly have to say "Stop yelling at me, I agree with you." It's a bit tiring even if I do agree with most of what they have to say. And even though I agree, I wouldn't call them unbiased or centrist.
Probably the most even-handed coverage of national and international news that I've found is garden variety NPR. They're not perfectly unbiased (they're left of center), but I think they're the best out there.

Ohh ohh. You said lame stream media. Please say sheeple next.
Seriously do we think that name calling and pizzagste are the answer? We're in a second coming of yellow journalism. Hearst was the first coming. This too will pass.
Second on NPR. They are left-ish biased, but at least it's pretty obvious. You can almost hear the snark in their announcers' voices when they say Trump's name.
PBS News Hour used to be pretty good, too. I haven't watched it in a while, but I have a friend who does and likes it.
My parents got me a subscription to the Wall Street Journal for Christmas. I manage to skim it most days. It's not horrible. As a bonus, it provides excellent kindling for when we have to start a fire in the wood stove.
