Well, I don't know about you guys, but so far 2009 Berkleying sucks.
It started with mass layoffs through our newspaper chain, which I narrowly escaped through being consigned to purgatory (the night shift). Last Tuesday, my long-time beater (subject of the story I did on Truth About Cars four years ago) had a fatal tranny siezure and I had to send it to the wreckers.
Most devastating of all ...I lost my beautiful best buddy, my horse Redford through a fall on the ice last week. It still doesn't feel real.
Some people cope with booze, eating... I went out and bought myself a car. I know you guys will understand.
Another Mazda 323, proverbial old-lady-owned, never slept outside, zero rust, low mileage beater. It's red.

Sorry to hear about Redford.
Good luck with the night shift and the 323.
Wowsers Les.
We still love you at least.
Keep your chin up. It will get better.
Yes, I (we) do understand on the car purchase. I hope it suites you well. It should provide better long term results than food or booze.
John
Oh wow, sorry to hear about Redford.
Look at it this way: at least you are employed. There's a lot of folks who can't say that.

Yes, I am grateful about that - and so grateful that I got to spend a few months with my old guy in perfect health. I'm waiting for the hurt to go away so I can be happy at the memories.
I just put a GRM sticker on my beater.
Very sorry to hear about Redford. A friend of mine just lost her horse to a fall in the pasture too.
I have to head over to the barn now...
