I have started gathering all of the engine bits that were going to go into the Rabbit after the engine that is going in now. I am going to just sell them off. The new stuff is so much better than 20 years ago, there is no reason to not jump ahead. Weight is down, power is up, fuel economy is up, emissions are down, longevity is up, etc.

I don't really have a point. There have just been a lot of negative posts and complaints, lately, including one I just made in the rant thread. Selling stuff at a loss is not really fit for the "minor win" thread, but I still wanted to find something positive to say about something.

Anyone want to start a "minor praise" (or similar) thread for things you like that aren't necessarily a win?

Well, yeah. I'm beginning to be a huge fan of the duratec/mzr 2.0 I'm putting in my MG. Really light, great aftermarket, fwd/rwd trans options, forced induction options. Fantastic.

Not to derail this thread and the message, but I'm excited to see the rabbit come together. I think it was about as apart as possible when I saw it. Build thread?

Why not the 2.5?

Having owned a 2.0 and a 2.5, I think I'd choose the smaller of the two for a sporty project. It just seemed peppier, happier to be abused. I really miss that little focus.

Got a new to us 2016 Transit work van, 3.5 ecotec. That engine puts out.. what..half again as much oomph as the 6liter vortec equipped van I testdrove, and the contrast 'tween it and our '97 van is even more eye-opening. Forcefed direct injection *is* a replacement for cubic inches.

Overall height. Still need to find an inch or so with the 2.0.

I agree. The Rio's 1.6 GDI is about 80bs less than the old Beta 2.0. It makes a little more power, much better fuel efficient and emissions are lower. It's pretty awesome.
