The old man Rooney or Noll woulda never put up w/ dat kinda E36 M3.
I call BS on this. I'm sure the boys got up to plenty of shenanigans in the Steel Curtain days. But it was both more socially acceptable at the time, and a whole lot easier to cover up.
Vick ain't no berkeleying shenanigan... my point.
I'd bet a months worth of beer that Vick would never be signed on the watch of Art Rooney or Noll no matter how hard up the team was for a backup... and they signed some pretty piss poor QB's back in the day, just sayin'.
But it is trash talk so carry on.

So far, it looks like the Eagles are having a better than average pre-season... which means the regular season will suck.
I know I'm a little biased, but they're one of the more interesting teams right now. They look scary good right now, but it's pre-season. If (when?) Bradford goes down with an ACL, MCL, hysterectomy, you're left with either Captain Buttfumble or Captain Wildcat. I can see this season either being 12-4 or 4-12, depending on health.
I heard on ESPN radio this morning that there is talk about the Eagles cutting Tebow and Barkley, then signing RGIII when the 'skins cut him. No, please no.
I highly doubt Philly has the cap room for him anyways, but a football interception throwing machine cornerbacks use for practice would be a better QB than Griffin.....
As a colts fan, I have a sneaking suspicion that our opener is going to be one for the ages....
If the Redskins cut him, I don't think they'd have to take the cap hit of his old contract. He'd sign a new one, and I doubt any team would give him more than back up money right now. It was just talk radio stuff I heard this morning, and I sure hope it stays that way.

Hmm, he'd have to be straight up cut, not on waivers.
In other news, Mr. "I get hit with a flashbang every time I touch the ball" Trent Richardson was cut by Oakland of all places....lol.

Ehhh, I look at it as a "He at least paid his debt to society" aspect
Not to derail this too far but because few people have read beyond the headlines. No he didn't pay his debt to society. He took a plea on a federal gambling charge because it allowed him to weasel out of the animal cruelty charges. The minimum sentence on the animal cruelty charges was 68 years but "famous" people don't do real time.
Don't Worry, RG III will be in Cleveland by the end of the year. That's the penance for being a star college QB from Texas. It's only natural.
Lion's fan in a football thread:
It's been a culture shock for me, moving from Philly to Atlanta. In Philly, the Eagles are worshipped... I think half of Atlanta doesn't realize they have a professional football team.

Half of Atlanta doesn't even speak anything resembling English, so they probably haven't been able to figure out how to buy tickets....

Never caught that, but he did do time for something....which is better than what they have at #1.
In reply to fasted58: Football was never wholesome (why people think it is? Is beyond me), read the book Snake by Ken Stabler. I don't think Old Man Rooney cared when "[Joe]Greene [in 1975] repeatedly kicked Browns lineman Bob McKay in the groin while McKay was lying on the ground" Think about the media craze if that happened today....

Exactly. Ndamukong Suh is a choirboy compared to the guys who played in that era, but today he's the dirtiest player in the game. Times have changed.

I never claimed it was a wholesome sport and it ain't, far from it. Shenanigans aside also as to who's groping/ berkeleying/ raping who and who kicks in the pile as that's not my point here. I'm sure there were plenty of unreported cases back in the day also... because they're berkeleying testosterone spouting jocks who got a free pass on everything since JV ball.
Allow me to reiterate my point as I thought I clarified it once already: I'd bet my beer money that Rooney and Noll would never sign a VICK back in their day. Vick is seriously damaged E36 M3, bet The Chief would have no part of it.
In reply to fasted58: I don't see the proof, we can't go back in history and compare what is criminal and what is not because most of it was not reported. At the end of the day it is a business. If you want to believe Rooney is some god, that's fine but the fact of the matter is their on-field performance has always been more important and he wouldn't have been in the position that he was with winning super bowls without players that could win regardless of their records or lack there of.
So glad to hear Brady was cleared by Judge Berman. Go Pats!!!

I feel like the NFL/Goodell would be wise to leave it at that and not appeal, but I doubt it'll happen.

Makes me wish Kraft fought the draft pick/fine handed down by the league too. But this is a HUGE precedent for anyone that wants to challenge the league. Brady rules, Goodell drools!

Brady has come across as an arrogant ass who is above the rules in this incident. It just furthers the impression that the Pats are an organization who have been successful largely in part to breaking/bending/ignoring the rules and getting away with it. The part that I don't get is how is this up to a federal judge? Why are our tax dollars being spent to decide this issue?
Especially since none of those taxes came from the NFL!

They will soon, thank Goodell for that.
I think it was seen by a federal judge due to it being a national labor union vs. national employer dispute.
So if Goodell goes to the Pats/E36 M3sburg game, who will be the most hated man in the stadium?
The hate for Brady is strong. Hope he dosent get injured this season.

Let's ignore all the facts in the case like the two pressure gauges, the refs complete lack of following the protocol, simple laws of gasses at temperature and pressure, the head refs own testimony, the "incriminating texts" that were actually from months prior and about deflating balls that were 20psi back down to regulation, Goodell's own rule-breaking, etc, etc, etc...
<<< From a Brady hater at that
