So, they did nothing wrong and the team owner figured he'd better just pay the $1M fine for E36 M3s and giggles? I don't know about all Javelin's info as I have tried my best to not follow the story. All I know is that I am supposed to believe the dude just happened to smash his cellphone and destroyed whatever data was on there because he routinely does that. I'm no Brady hater, I just said he has come across as an ass and I will stand by that opinion.

The NFL brand, it's management, players and teams all suck! Ignore it for a week and you will wonder why you ever bothered. The entire thing is a vessel for the delivery of commercials. You know what the fat bastards do while the commercials are on? They berkeleying stand around huffing and puffing like an almost 400lb man would have to if he had just moved too quickly for almost 30 seconds continuously. It is a "sport" to people who think lite beer is beer. It's really just a 3.5hr television show that sells lite beer to people willing to watch anything as long as they don't have to get off the couch all day.

Is that the sort of trash talk you had in mind?

LOL. That's about it. Hey, at least the players have to move quickly for 30 seconds at a time. Compare that to baseball. They stand around about 98% of the time on the field other than the pitcher and catcher.

I don't like football, never did. But unless I want to leave my wife, and either join some anti-football commune or just go into seclusion, It will be there. So I make the best of it and use it as a chance to "poke the bear".

I don't think this whole debacle whether you are Pro or Anti Brady/Patriots, shows well on our court system. If they are not guilty then why were they still assessed $1 million and the loss of two draft picks (because they are guilty, but able to beat the court system,). I guess they misinterpreted the rules. Super Bowl was kind of funny this year, you had the all time cheatiest NFL coach for the all time cheatiest College coach (who ran out of dodge before he could get busted).

Good, not great start for the Patriots. Of course there has to be another controversy. It's all good though as I remember the dark days of the franchise where you were ashamed of being a fan. It wasn't that long ago either.

Suspect calls by the Steelers last night. Why would you try some lame ass trick play on the first drive after you were running the ball down the opponents throat? The Pats had no answer for the running game last night. If even an shiny happy person like me sitting on my couch can see that you would think the Steelers brain trust would be able to see it as well.

I watched the Pat's opening drive and then still couldn't decide who to root against more, so I turned the game off and watched something else. I cannot forgive the Steal-ers for Superbowl XL. I don't know if they paid of the refs in that game or the ref just had money riding on a Pittsburgh victory, but that game was an utter farce and cemented the fact that the NFL is about entertainment and has little to do with sport or competition. Link. I think maybe the league decided it would be good for the NFL brand if the Steal-ers were given the victory to bring back some of the glory from the 70's.

And, the Pat's are the Pat's. Either love them or hate them, not much else. They seem to be a polarizing team. In short the only game they could've possibly picked that I would care less to see than this matchup would've been if Dallas played Baltimore.

The game was on in the background at the bar where I was eating late dinner on the way home. Was there enough pomp before kick-off? You would swear Dale Earnhart came back from the dead riding a flame throwing Harley dragging Jesus back with him in the side car with a celebration like that.

I have no idea what happened during the game. A Fat Tire and rare NY strip held my attention.

Nice job Bears. You have one job to do. You think you can beat the Packers, just once? Jesus.

I like what I saw out of my team (KC), but I think the story this week has to be Marcus Mariota. I didn't see the game, but I saw the stat line. Yes, it was against the Bucs. Yes, he's a rookie super-mobile QB in a somewhat simplified offense, and we all remember what happened the last time someone came out and lit the world on fire as a rookie in that mold (hello, RG3).

But you wanna talk about giving a fan base that's been down for a while some hope. Man. Hopefully he sustains the success.

In reply to psteav: I honestly thought that Marcus was going to be way better than Winston, but I didn't think he was going to light it up. I think it's also obvious that Winston is on a terrible team, and the team will probably have the same record as last year. It will be interesting to see if Marcus can last a full season.

While its hard to trump the 0-16 card, some of the most entertaining football conversations I have had were with Lions fans as we debated who had it worse - them or us Browns fans.
