I love browsing GovDeals, even though I can't afford half the stuff. This one is a find, however.

1966 Dodge Charger

The comment about a one-barrel carb has me worried, but...

Still ten days left on the auction so who knows what the final price will be. Those first generation Chargers were kind of ungainly, but I always liked the interiors with the bucket seats front and back.

I'm not very good at identifying Mopar engines but I'll guess it has a 361 or a 383.

The styling of these has never grown on me, although I do like the '68-69's. Still, if the price is right, and you like it....

honestly, if there was ever a carcompany that consistantly put out bad looking cars.. it would be Chrysler.. but they wouldn't get the award though.. renault would win that honour

Looks like a 318 Polyspherical motor, a forerunner of the later 318 "LA" motor that came out the next year. Probably has a Carter BBD on it and he hasn't looked too closely past the choke butterfly.

Around here, cops would use that for UC work. They have an interesting fleet.

I grew up with a 69 charger and always preferred the look of the earlier ones. Besides you will never see a 66 with an 01 on the door and a confederate flag on top

This.

Lose the yellow and black and paint it a respectable color, breathe some life into that 318 and you'd have a decent cruiser.

I really like the '66 Charger in Big Fish

I saw one in Carlisle a few years ago done up as the General. It was either a '66 or '67. Haven't found a pic of it yet. Probably a good thing.

I've seen a '73 SE done up as the General too.

Yea, the Big Fish Charger looked good. Probably the best representation of the 1st gen Charger.

As a side note, I went to high school with the giant from Big Fish.

Matt didn't have a Charger though. He had a Caravan with the seat moved back about a foot.

There was one in one of the hot rodding mags this month that had a twin turbo big block making IIRC 800-850hp. Didn't make it look any better though...

I saw that one - a Steve Strope project car dubbed Skully - at a hot rod show a couple years ago. Sadly, the current owner swapped the billet rims for 15" Cragars and added more chrome under the hood. Not quite as good looking now.

I love the shape of the 1st Gen Charger.

But I also love the shape of the AMC Marlin which came out before the Charger. Hmm

you will if i ever get one.. i almost painted the 86 Charger that i had about 15 years like the General Lee, but i didn't have enough gas money or expendable income to buy enough cans of the really cheap orange, white, and blue paint at Wal Mart when i had the inspiration..
